Job Title: VMware Administrator

Overview: We are looking for a highly skilled VMware Administrator with a VMware certification to join our IT operations team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing and supporting VMware virtualized environments, ensuring the performance, stability, and scalability of our infrastructure. As a VMware Administrator, you will play a key role in maintaining the health of VMware-based systems and providing ongoing support for VMware technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Administer, configure, and manage VMware vSphere, vCenter, and other VMware technologies in a production environment.
• Monitor VMware infrastructure, perform health checks, and resolve any issues that may arise with virtual machines, hosts, and storage.
• Perform daily system administration tasks including backups, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting of VMware environments.
• Ensure optimal performance and scalability of VMware solutions by performing capacity planning and resource allocation.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure that VMware environments integrate smoothly with other systems and networks.
• Implement and maintain VMware’s high availability (HA), fault tolerance (FT), and disaster recovery (DR) configurations.
• Apply security patches and updates to VMware products and virtual machines to maintain system security and compliance.
• Assist in the planning and execution of migrations, upgrades, and patching of VMware environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues, resource contention, and hardware failures within VMware infrastructure.
• Create and maintain documentation on system configurations, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Provide support for VMware-based automation and orchestration tools, such as vRealize Automation (vRA) and vRealize Orchestrator (vRO).
• Provide technical support for end-users and resolve VMware-related issues in a timely and effective manner.
• Participate in on-call support rotation to ensure the availability and stability of VMware environments.
Qualifications:
• VMware Certification (e.g., VMware Certified Professional – VCP or VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) is required.
• Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter, and other VMware technologies such as NSX, vSAN, and vRealize Suite.
• Strong understanding of virtual networking, storage, and security concepts within VMware environments.
• Experience with VMware management tools (e.g., vCenter, vSphere Web Client, PowerCLI, etc.).
• Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions for VMware environments.
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) and automation tools such as PowerCLI.
• Solid understanding of IT infrastructure components including networking, storage, and servers.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex VMware-related issues.
• Ability to perform system upgrades, patches, and new deployments in VMware environments.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with various IT teams.
• Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with VMware Cloud (e.g., VMware Cloud on AWS) or hybrid cloud environments.
• Additional IT certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, ITIL, or networking certifications) are a plus.
• Experience with Linux and/or Windows server administration.
• Knowledge of performance tuning and optimization in VMware environments.
