SOC is seeking a Network Development Engineer with a strong background in network infrastructure and software-driven network (SDN) solutions to join our team supporting critical federal missions. This role focuses on the design, implementation, and automation of scalable and secure network systems, including top-of-rack (ToR) switches and data center infrastructure. SOC is seeking a Network Development Engineer with a strong background in network infrastructure and software-driven network (SDN) solutions to join our team supporting critical federal missions. This role focuses on the design, implementation, and automation of scalable and secure network systems, including top-of-rack (ToR) switches and data center infrastructure. Candidates must have an active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph and hands-on experience in both traditional and software-defined networking environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage scalable network solutions for high-availability, mission-critical federal systems.
- Develop network automation tools and scripts to optimize deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of infrastructure.
- Lead initiatives in deploying and maintaining top-of-rack (ToR) infrastructure in data centers.
- Collaborate with security, software, and infrastructure teams to support end-to-end system delivery.
- Maintain and troubleshoot complex Layer 2/3 networks, including routing, switching, VPN, and firewalls.
- Document network designs, standard operating procedures, and change management records.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and integrate them into the existing network architecture when applicable.
- Ensure all systems comply with DoD/Federal cybersecurity and compliance standards.
Basic Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph (required)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in network engineering within secure federal or government environments
- Experience with top-of-rack switch configuration and deployment (e.g., Arista, Cisco, Juniper)
- Strong understanding of Layer 2/3 networking protocols and data center architecture
- Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (Python, Ansible, Terraform, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with network monitoring and management platforms
- Familiarity with network virtualization, SDN, and cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or similar)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications: One ore more; Security+, CASP, CCNP, JNCIP, CISSP, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, or equivalent
- Experience in Zero Trust Architecture or segmentation strategies
- Exposure to container networking (Kubernetes, Docker)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines related to network automation
- Familiarity with STIGs, RMF, and other federal compliance frameworks
