Overview
LMI is seeking a highly skilled System Architect to support the Army Learning Content Management Capability (LCMC), including ATIS Learning, as part of a SAFe Agile team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), specifically Moodle, and a strong background in system architecture, integration, and modernization efforts for military training environments.
Responsibilities
Serve as the System Architect for the Army LCMC initiative, ensuring alignment with ATIS Learning objectives and the broader Army Training Information System (ATIS) strategy.
• Design and oversee the implementation and maintenance of scalable, secure, and interoperable learning content management solutions.
• Provide architectural leadership in integrating and maintaining Moodle-based LMS solutions and supporting software systems within a cloud-based environment.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Release Train Engineers (RTEs), and development teams to align system architecture with SAFe Agile processes, and ATIS solution vision.
• Lead the analysis, design, and development of technical solutions that enhance learning content delivery, user experience, system interoperability, and system efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity and data governance requirements.
• Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Army training systems.
• Work closely with DevSecOps teams to establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines, optimize current cloud infrastructure, and support automated testing for the learning management and delivery environment.
• Work closely with Solution Architect, system architects, data architects, and cloud engineers to ensure interoperability of ALCMC capability within the ATIS system including authentication, internal and external interfaces and data interoperability, reporting, and cybersecurity.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development teams, ensuring best practices in software architecture and system integration.
• Develop and maintain architecture documentation, system design specifications, and technical roadmaps.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
• Active DoD Secret Clearance required
• 8+ years of experience in system architecture, software development, or technical leadership roles.
• Experience with Moodle LMS, including customization, integration, and administration.
• Strong understanding of SAFe Agile methodologies and experience working within Agile Release Trains (ARTs).
• Experience with cloud-based architectures, preferably AWS or Azure, and knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools.
• Knowledge of DoD IT security requirements, RMF, and cybersecurity best practices.
• Experience integrating LMS platforms with other enterprise systems such as student information systems, training management systems, and analytics tools.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders and drive technical decisions.
Preferred:
• Familiarity with Army institutional training.
• Familiarity with SCORM/xAPI and supporting tools (e.g. Rustici, learning record stores)
