LOCATION: National Capital region
REQUIRED SECURITY CLEARANCE: Active TS with SCI eligibility
POSITION TYPE/STANDARD WORK HOURS: Full time, 40 hours

THE OPPORTUNITY:
Upon award, BTAS will be filling potential openings for the Space Systems Command (SSC). SSC plays a critical role in advancing the United States's space capabilities, delivering cutting-edge solutions to protect and enhance national security. SSC/SZBC specializes in highly classified Space Domain Awareness (SDA) systems, Defensive and Offensive Space Control (DSC/OSC) capabilities, and space test range assets to support the Department of Defense's (DoD) current and future operational needs.

As a leader in space technology, SSC/SZ-BC is responsible for the development, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment of mission-critical systems spanning the entire acquisition life cycle. These efforts ensure the United States Space Force (USSF) and its mission partners maintain a strategic advantage in space operations. This position will support multiple SSC/SZ-BC programs, as well as other initiatives across the Space Force, Air Force, and allied organizations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide space acquisitions, engineering, operations, and technical advice and assistance for projects and programs at any acquisition life cycle stage.
  • Support program acquisition for advanced technology, future concept development, and integration.
  • Advise and assist on cost, schedule, and performance issues.
  • Revise or draft Joint Capabilities Integrated Development System (JCIDS) and acquisition documentation for government program managers.
  • Support presentation of products to internal and external customers.
  • Develop documentation using latest government guidance (e.g., MIL-STD).
  • Provide draft SME-level technical and/or programmatic status reports as requested.
  • Identify improvement areas in acquisition processes and recommend actionable changes.
  • Assist in building and maintaining government risk programs.
  • Support government program manager in managing commitments, obligations, and expenditures.
  • Perform earned value management and schedule analysis for defense contracts.
  • Provide Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) support including congressional reporting and fiscal year planning.
  • Offer subject-matter expertise for Integrated Baseline Reviews/Business Financial Reviews.
  • Maintain current awareness of program schedules and monitor acquisition implementation.
  • Report requirement shortfalls and provide program assessments based on identified risks.
  • Advise on technical engagements such as technical interchange meetings and design reviews.
  • Assist integrated product teams and establish customer and contractor interfaces.
  • Assist government in executing source selections subject to FAR 9.505-4.
  • Coordinate functional meeting requests and develop source selection documentation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • MA/MS degree is required.
  • Individual must be an SME Recognized Industry Leader.
  • Must be highly knowledgeable in acquiring highly classified ACAT-like space control systems.
  • Must be highly knowledgeable in developing and coordinating all activities and documentation required to support ACAT-like Defense Acquisition Boards.
  • Must be highly knowledgeable in the PPBE process and headquarters staffing process.
  • Must be highly knowledgeable in the fields of Department of the Air Force financial management.
  • Must demonstrate ability to lead a team of acquisition and systems engineering professionals to support ongoing and emerging program acquisitions.
  • Tradeoffs can be made with regard to PM level 4. A PM level 3 is adequate as long as the candidate is an industry leader. Additionally, an MS is preferred, but a BS is adequate as long as the candidate is an industry leader.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not supervise the work of others.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to operate a computer and other standard office equipment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position, 80%.

TRAVEL:
Little if any travel is required.

COMPENSATION / SALARY RANGE:
BTAS adheres to federal, state, and local regulations. This is a Full-Time, Salary, Exempt position. The following salary range is what we reasonably expect to pay but is contingent and subject to a variety of factors, including but not limited to years of experience, education, certification(s), training, specialized skills, responsibilities, etc.

SALARY RANGE: $189,000-$225,000
