Description

Position Title: CMDB Administrator

Clearance: TS/SCI

Location: Springfield, VA

Job Summary:
  • The Mid CMDB Administrator is responsible for assisting in the development, management, and maintenance of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) within the organizations ITIL framework.

Responsibilities:
  • Configure and deploy ServiceNow Discovery across multiple networks to ensure comprehensive asset and service visibility.
  • Implement and optimize Cloud Discovery to capture multi-cloud infrastructure components.
  • Prepare and configure Service Mapping, ensuring application services are accurately represented in the CMDB.
  • Fine-tune Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE) rules to prevent duplicate CI records and improve data integrity.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define discovery schedules, credential requirements, and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve discovery issues, ensuring proper data ingestion into the CMDB.
  • Work with ITSM and CMDB teams to improve data accuracy and maintain alignment with ITIL best practices.
  • Provide documentation and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of relevant experience or
  • Associate's Degree and 5+ years of relevant experience or
  • High School Degree and 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow Cloud Discovery (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong understanding of Service Mapping principles and data modeling.
  • Experience configuring and optimizing IRE rules for CI reconciliation.
  • Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, or JavaScript) for automation and troubleshooting.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to successfully obtain CI Poly
  • Knowledge of network protocols, IP addressing, and infrastructure components.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret large datasets within the CMDB.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Preferred - ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) or working towards a CMDB/Discovery certification.
  • Preferred - Experience with ITSM and ITOM modules in ServiceNow.
  • Preferred - Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Ability to think critically and solve complex issues
  • Ability to work with other teams and stakeholders to ensure mission success
Physical Demands:
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee may use repeated motions that include the arms, wrists, hands and/or fingers. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
Work Environment:
  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
  • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
