Job Summary
This school district is seeking dedicated Personal Care Assistants (PCAs) to support students in achieving academic and behavioral success. The PCAs will assist in implementing effective educational programs and meeting special needs, including feeding, toileting, positioning, and monitoring health conditions as assigned by the case manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Instructional Support: Provide one-on-one or group instruction in cognitive, gross/fine motor, feeding, self-help, and behavior control skills under teacher direction.
- Health & Safety: Ensure a safe environment for students with physical disabilities, considering potential hazards.
- Personal Hygiene: Assist students with washing, toileting, diapering, and changing clothing.
- Behavior Management: Monitor and control student behavior following established guidelines.
- Physical Assistance: Aid students with orthopedic equipment, including lifting, positioning, and repositioning as needed.
- Records Management: Maintain progress and behavior records under teacher supervision.
- Collaboration: Work with caseworkers, general education teachers, and other staff to meet student needs.
- Behavioral Support: Implement positive behavioral interventions and assist in social interactions.
- Professional Development: Attend training sessions related to medical interventions and instructional techniques.
- Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities within the scope of the position.
Employment Standards
- Knowledge of First Aid and CPR procedures.
- Basic record-keeping and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in English grammar, spelling, and vocabulary.
Education, Experience, and Requirements
- Education: Associate's degree or 48 college credits required.
- Clearances:
- PA Child Abuse (Act 151) Clearance (Valid within 1 year).
- PA Criminal (Act 34) Clearance (Valid within 1 year).
- FBI Background Check through the PA Department of Education (Valid within 1 year).
- Health Screening: Current TB test (within 3 months).
- Documentation: Arrest/Conviction Report, Diploma or Official Transcripts.
- Training: Act 126 Mandated Reporter Certification (Valid within 5 years).
