Job Description:
ITEC is seeking an Engineer to support the installation, modification, operation and maintenance of Large Earth Terminal systems. The systems are electronic, mechanical, electrical and RF based.
Job Responsibilities:
- Monitor system operation.
- Correct electronic and mechanical system malfunctions and maintain system health.
- Work in an open environment where frequent and direct interaction and collaboration with customers and peers is ordinary.
- Ability to work in a multi-tasking dynamic environment under general direction.
- Attend design reviews for new projects.
- Member of a team of System Engineers responsible for ensuring the sustainment of functionality and operation for a large quantity, and wide range of hardware components.
- Perform system and unit level hardware maintenance, preventative maintenance, and corrective maintenance.
- Perform periodic maintenance, preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting and component level repair.
- Services digital, RF, fiber optic and AC power systems and components.
- Track and document system performance metrics, creating problem reports and records.
- Ensure high level of systems reliability and availability, reducing operational issues and outages.
- Responsible for ensuring sufficient spares and replacement hardware units were maintained/operational.
- Work with highly calibrated / technical equipment.
- Requires 24/7 on-call support (maximum of 1/month).
Required Skills:
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
- Performs component-level electronic repairs with precision and accuracy.
- Skilled in Ethernet-to-digital signal conversion.
- Diagnoses and troubleshoots power supply issues in electronic systems.
- Experience with maintenance and troubleshooting on operational electrical and/or mechanical systems.
- Familiar with testing equipment.
- Experience with diagnosing, providing status, and reporting system issues.
- Expertise in troubleshooting various interfaces: ethernet, fiber, controllers.
Desired Skills:
- Ability to know and understand a wide application of technical theories and concepts utilized in this area – block diagrams – wiring diagrams – schematics – system troubleshooting.
- Multiple LET operational certifications and be able to obtain and maintain certifications for ground terminal operations.
- Desire 12 years’ experience with two or more of the following:
- Electronic systems
- Electro-mechanical systems
- RF Theory
- Software applications
- Data processing systems
- Working experience with Engineering in a Customer Environment.
- Excellent technical writing and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to understand existing procedures while looking for ways to improve them.
- Experience performing satellite mission support in a near real-time environment.
- Experience monitoring and quickly digesting the status of multiple large systems and rapidly. reasoning through and prioritizing appropriate responses to real-time situations.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify cause and affect relationships.
- Ability to learn quickly and multi-task in a high-pressure work environment.
