The Expeditionary Systems Engineering Division (ESED) is a component of Corona Division, Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). ESED performs full spectrum life cycle engineering and test support to verify the safety, reliability, and effectiveness of Expeditionary Warfare systems. The primary function of ESED is to provide In-Service Engineering and Test and Evaluation for the Department of Defense (DoD). As part of this function, ESED conducts test operations at regional Southern California ranges such as Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake and at multiple DoD ranges across the United States. This task sets forth the requirements for technical services related to testing to include test planning, test execution, test support, test operations and associated logistics. These services are in support of a wide variety of systems across their life cycle, which include ESED's main focus areas such as Arms, Ammunition, Explosives, Weapons Systems, and associated platforms utilized by the Expeditionary Warfare community. ESED's secondary focus areas such as Sensors and Communications, Mobility Platforms, Systems Integration, and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) equipment with unique military applications; and other new or existing systems that require independent testing for Expeditionary Warfare.
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Armorer will support the Program Manager in the execution of the Test Operations Support Services (TOSS) contract . That person will provide specialized support for the weapons that the TOSS contract will be required to maintain in support of current and ongoing projects and test events at the Fallbrook operating site as well as various test ranges. This position is located in Fallbrook, CA. This role typically works in a secure storage facility

What You'll Do
- Perform advanced weapons maintenance tasks including, but not limited to: diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a wide variety of firearms (rifles, shotguns, pistols, etc.).
- Demonstrate expert-level knowledge of firearm mechanics and relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
- Accurately document all work performed, parts used, and time spent on each job.
- Provide exceptional customer service, communicating clearly and professionally regarding their firearm needs and the status of work.
- Stay current with military/industry advancements, new technologies, and emerging firearm platforms.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring tools and equipment.
- Ability to lift and handle firearms and related equipment safety.
- Ensure the security of weapons and equipment.
- Scheduling and expediting part requisition and repairs when necessary.
- Maintain and manage inventory of related parts and supplies.
- Attention to detail to ensure all weapons are maintained to the highest standard, ensuring safety and functionality.
- Bid and proposal support if requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
- HS Diploma required.
- Four (4) years of experience providing in handling, maintaining, and repairing firearms.
- Formal weapons maintenance education or equivalent documented experience and training.
- Technical knowledge and skill in firearms to maintain, repair a variety of weapons.
- Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues with weaponry that could impact their performance or safety.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with users, and provide them with the necessary information about the weaponry.
- Understanding of the safety procedures and protocols related to handling, storing, and transporting weapons.
- Ability to maintain accurate records of inventory, maintenance schedules, and repair work.
- Strong understanding of firearm safety principles and practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.
- Must be legally eligible to possess and work with firearms.
- Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must possess strong time management skills.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
- Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
- The ability to lift items that may weigh up to 50 pounds.
- The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing such as performing regular shop activities, inspections, or to observe and study operations in an industrial or comparable work area or on-board submarines and in weapon facilities.
- The ability to operate heavy machinery and industrial tools with limited to no supervision. Examples may include but are not limited to: Electric/Disel Forklift, CNC Milling Machine, Welding/Soldering, CAT III Overhead Crane, pallet jack, "Big Joe" stand-behind pallet lift mechanism, and more.
- Travel Required ~10% travel required.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
Desired Qualifications:
- Level of experience suitable for position of Lead Armorer/Manager.
- Related military roles is a plus.
- Prior military experience in one of these MOS/NECs: USMC 2111/2112, Army 91F, or USN NEC 717B or 718B.
- Advanced certifications from recognized gunsmithing institutions or manufacturers.
- Comprehensive understanding of a variety of firearms, their assembly, disassembly and operation.
- This includes but not limited to handguns, rifles, shotguns, and other firearms.
- Experience with optics mounting and zeroing. Familiarity with NFA (National Firearms Act) regulations and procedures.
- Strong network within the firearms and military community.
