Northrop Grumman's SSSD has an opening for an Associate Systems Engineer/Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA, can be filled at either Level 1 Associate Systems Engineer or Level 2 Systems Engineer, and will focus on launch systems integration, testbeds, and/or space vehicle systems integration.
*This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to maintenance of the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future.
Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
-SV Requirements and Verification Management: Assist in the development, allocation, and verification of space vehicle requirements, including creating and maintaining Space Vehicle Specifications, Environmental Specifications, and Operations Concepts (OPSCON).
-SV Integration and Coordination: Support the identification, negotiation, and documentation of internal and external interfaces, allocation of technical budgets (e.g., mass properties, power), and coordination of verification and validation efforts to ensure alignment across different subsystems.
-SV Documentation and Collaboration: Contribute to the development and management of key program deliverable documents, such as Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Configuration Management Plans, and Risk Management Plans, while fostering continuous collaboration with cross-functional teams to support the overall integration process.
-LSI Interface and Requirements Management: Assist in the development and management of mission interface control documents and interface requirements documents, ensuring accurate traceability and verification with the launch services provider, customer, and internal stakeholders.
-LSI Integrated Analysis and Coordination: Support the performance of integrated analyses (e.g., coupled loads, thermal analyses) with the launch services provider and coordinate the execution of integration activities, including schedules and resources, to ensure compatibility between the space vehicle (SV) and launch vehicle (LV).
-LSI Documentation and Communication: Contribute to the creation and maintenance of key LSI documentation, such as system engineering plans, verification and validation plans, and compliance with launch vehicle requirements, while maintaining clear and effective communication with all relevant stakeholders to ensure successful integration and mission execution.
-Testbed Development and Integration: Assist in the development of testbed requirements and description documents and contribute to the integration of testbed hardware and software, including Vehicle Dynamics Simulator (VDS) and Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE).
-Test Planning and Execution: Support the creation and execution of test plans, integration procedures, and hands-on testing and troubleshooting to ensure hardware and software compatibility, including maintaining and upgrading the testbed infrastructure.
-Testbed Documentation and Configuration Management: Help maintain clear and accurate documentation of testbed configurations, manage property and asset records, and ensure continuous coordination with stakeholders, including subsystem engineers and testbed support teams, to support system verification and validation efforts.
Basic Qualifications for Level 1 Associate Systems Engineer:
-Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
-Candidate must have (and be able to maintain) an active, within scope, or current U.S. Government DOD Top Secret security clearance at time of application and prior to start date OR
-Candidate must have active SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years at time of application and prior to start date
Basic Qualifications for Level 2 Systems Engineer:
-Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and 2+ years of engineering experience OR
-Master's Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
-Candidate must have (and be able to maintain) an active, within scope, or current U.S. Government DOD Top Secret security clearance at time of application and prior to start date OR
-Candidate must have active SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years at time of application and prior to start date
Preferred Qualifications:
-Master's Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
-Strong communication skills
-Some knowledge of Launch Systems Integration and/or Testbeds processes

Salary Range: $74,000.00 - $111,000.00Salary Range 2: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
