About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Data Scientist/Deputy Data Officer to join our team supporting a large IT support contract for a key DoD agency. In this role, you will play a vital part in shaping and executing the data strategy for the program, working closely with the Data Officer and a team of skilled data professionals.
Responsibilities:
· Design, develop, and implement advanced data analytics solutions using statistical modeling, machine learning, and other data science techniques to address complex business challenges.
· Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and understand data requirements, translating them into actionable insights and recommendations.
· Develop and maintain data pipelines, ensuring data quality, integrity, and accessibility for analysis and reporting.
· Conduct exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and model selection to build predictive and prescriptive models.
· Develop and deliver compelling data visualizations and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
· Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, evaluating and recommending their applicability to the program.
· Contribute to the development and implementation of data governance policies, standards, and best practices.
· Manage, mentor and guide junior data scientists on the team, fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications:
· Active Secret Clearance required.
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
· 5+ years of progressive experience in a data science role, preferably within a DoD or government contracting environment.
· Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modeling techniques, and data mining principles.
· Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with data science libraries (e.g., Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow).
· Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
· Familiarity with Agile methodologies and MBSE principles is a plus.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
