One of our client’s needs a Cybersecurity Engineer for a Part time conditional to full time role (if approved)

Job Description:
• Provide strategic cybersecurity analysis for integration of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and UAS Traffic Management (UTM) technologies into the National Airspace System (NAS).
• Support FAA Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability (LAANC) team by consulting on cybersecurity requirements, security frameworks, and Memorandum of Agreements (MOA) with UAS Service Suppliers (USS).
• Develop and implement cybersecurity strategies and frameworks essential for system Authority to Operate (ATO) certifications within FAA Program Support Services (PSS).
• Conduct comprehensive analysis of security risk posture and guide FAA systems transitioning to IP-based telecommunications services.
• Serve as Cybersecurity Engineering Project Lead and Domain Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing oversight and technical direction for cybersecurity engineering projects and domain-specific security assessments.
• Evaluate FAA Radar Surveillance and Flight Service Systems based on FAA Risk Management and NIST Cybersecurity Framework standards.
• Deliver transformative telecommunication Solution Development Engineering (SDE) solutions supporting FAA and Department of Defense (DoD) cooperative and non-cooperative radar systems.
• Prepare and deliver detailed security risk briefings for Authorizing Officials and Information System Security Officers (ISSO).
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity and systems engineering roles, preferably within federal aviation or government sectors.
• Comprehensive understanding of FAA Risk Management guidelines, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and Authority to Operate (ATO) procedures.
• Demonstrated experience providing cybersecurity solutions for unmanned systems, telecommunications transition projects, and critical aviation infrastructure.
• Proven track record managing cybersecurity assessments, risk analyses, and developing actionable strategies to mitigate identified risks.
• Strong proficiency in cybersecurity tools, technologies, and systems architecture.
• Exceptional analytical, project management, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Unmanned Aircraft
• Systems (Cybersecurity), Cybersecurity, or relevant technical discipline (in progress or completed).
• Certifications such as PMP, CompTIA Security+ CE, FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification, CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications.
• Familiarity and direct experience with FAA cybersecurity operational frameworks and procedures.
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience in cybersecurity or IT engineering teams.
• Professional Attributes:
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead and collaborate effectively across multi-disciplinary teams.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to brief stakeholders clearly and effectively.
Work Environment:
• Position will be located at FAA’s HQ in Washington DC.
• Role may require occasional travel to other FAA locations for meetings, audits, and assessment
