The Mechanical Engineering group in the Shipboard Effectors Department is currently searching for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to work on a multi-discipline team to support design and upgrades of Shipboard Effectors products and subsystems located in Tucson, AZ.

This is an onsite role and requires strong communication skills to collaborate across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality.

What You Will Do
  • Responsibilities may include concept development, detailed design, analysis, integration and test, support of transition to production efforts, and product improvement.
  • Additional duties may include factory production line support in the areas of root cause and corrective action and problem resolution at various suppliers.
  • Candidate will work closely with Integrated Product Team Leads/Program Managers to ensure that engineering requirements are defined, risks are managed, and schedules/budgets are met.
  • Candidate will ensure Technical Data Packages are maintained and updated as necessary. Decisions must be data driven in nature and require preparing technical justification analysis reports as well as presenting to a variety of Engineering Review Boards.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor of Degree in Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar Engineering discipline
  • Five years' experience in mechanical design and design documentation
  • Experience with 3D CAD tools (modeling and drawing)
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.


Qualifications We Prefer
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written
  • Experience in mechanical sub-systems packaging, materials, interconnects, or large assembly development
  • Proficient in Creo (modeling and drawing) and Windchill (PDM)
  • Active DoD issued security clearance

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
