CYBER DEFENSE INFRASTRUCTURE SUPPORT SPECIALIST

THE PROGRAM:

Work on the program responsible for continually monitoring, detecting, and responding to security incidents that may occur on the networks, IT services, and systems of a large Federal agency where you will be part of a centralized command and control environment, ensuring seamless collaboration among security analysts, threat intelligence teams, streamlined incident response workflows, collaborative intelligence-sharing platforms, and stakeholders in addition to facilitating the collection and correlation of data from various sources, supporting the mission to detect, respond to, and mitigate cyber threats promptly.

You will be part of a team that develops, operates, maintains, and enhances a suite of cybersecurity tools deployed across secure enclaves to support incident response, threat detection, and event monitoring. The team integrates data from centralized and local system sources, ensuring effective and timely responses to cybersecurity events. You will create new applications, algorithms, and automation to optimize workflows and improve data analysis. You will collaborate to integrate security requirements into technical solutions and conduct ongoing research to incorporate emerging technologies, enhancing the organization's overall cybersecurity posture. Your work ensures that tools and infrastructure remain operational, resilient, and adaptable to evolving threats.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain cybersecurity tools and applications, ensuring they meet operational needs and security requirements including researching, identifying, and recommending emerging technologies
  • Data integration for incident response and threat detection.
  • Develop algorithms and automation to streamline workflows and improve data analysis capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security features into existing and new technical solutions.
  • Testing, implementation, deployment, and administration of infrastructure hardware and software for cybersecurity.
  • Monitor and maintain operational resilience of cybersecurity tools and systems.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

8+ years' experience with
  • Cybersecurity principles, practices, and frameworks, including Incident Response Frameworks, Executive Orders and National Cybersecurity Strategies, CIS Controls, ISO/IEC 27001, NIST Cybersecurity Framework and Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA)
  • Security technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and advanced threat detection tools.
  • Compliance requirements and regulations relevant to cybersecurity, such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI DSS, ensuring adherence to industry standards
  • Linux based environment administration
  • Testing, implementing, deploying, maintaining, and administering infrastructure hardware and software for cybersecurity
  • Developing, creating, modifying, and maintaining computer applications, software, or specialized utility programs for cybersecurity
  • Integrating third-party components, developing custom capabilities, modifying existing code, recommending process improvements, and automating operations and maintenance tasks.


Software Experience
  • Familiarity with Splunk, Oracle/SQL-based platforms, and Python.


Certifications (at least one of the following is preferred)
  • Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA)
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Associate


Education:

Minimum Education: Bachelors in Cybersecurity, Information Technology or a related field and minimum of 8 years' experience. Substitutions Allowed: No Degree- 12 years; Associates- 10 years; Master's- 6 years; Ph.D.- 4 years

• Security Clearance Level:

Top Secret (TS) level with the ability to obtain access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI)
