We're seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Journeyman Software Quality Assurance and Test Engineer to join our team! As a Journeyman Software Quality Assurance and Test Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated test cases using various tools and technologies. Your primary goal will be to ensure the quality of our microservices-based Enterprise application by identifying defects early in the development cycle. Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Additional 3+ years of experience in software development, preferably in a Developer role
  • Familiarity with Java programming language, including its syntax and ecosystem (e.g., Maven, Spring Boot)
  • Experience with at least one test automation framework, such as:
  • JUnit or TestNG for unit testing
  • Cucumber or Selenium for end-to-end testing
  • k6s, JMeter, or Gatling for load/ performance testing
  • Basic understanding of database interactions and querying techniques (Mongo, Postgres)
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a willingness to collaborate with cross-functional teams

Additional Qualifications:
  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines and automation tools
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
  • Familiarity with other testing frameworks or languages (e.g., Python, C#)

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test cases using Java programming language
  • Work with cross-functional teams (development, QA) to identify areas for automation and prioritize test scripts
  • Develop and execute test automation frameworks to ensure high coverage of our microservices-based application
  • Collaborate with the team to design and implement integration tests for RESTful APIs and databases (Mongo, Postgres)
  • Troubleshoot issues in automated test cases and database interactions
  • Perform code reviews and contribute to improving the overall quality of the codebase

Public Trust Clearance: Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance; and will be subject to a Tier 3 Investigation for DoD Common Access Card (CAC) eligibility only . Candidates who have recently completed T3 investigations are a plus.

Work Location:

Tria Federal, operates primarily in the Eastern Time Zone, with standard work hours from 9 AM - 5 PM ET and flexibility around start and end times based on team needs. We have open-collaboration offices in Arlington, VA, and Baltimore, MD for those who prefer to work on-site.

Please Note: Work location requirements vary by program. While many roles support remote work, some projects may require partial or full on-site presence based on contract and client needs. Specific work location expectations will be communicated during the hiring process.
