Volt is immediately hiring for System Engineer in Aurora, CO.

In this role, you can directly impact the world around you and contribute to classified programs and technologies you are passionate about. Our small agile teams adapt to evolving customer and warfighter needs.

This is a 12-month full-time Contract or contract-to-hire opportunity.

What you Will Do
Investigate, diagnose, and resolve unexpected system behavior and anomalies.
Develop, maintain, and enhance operational procedures and technical documentation.
Monitor and analyze system performance trends to recommend improvements.
Support and coordinate system maintenance tasks with internal and external stakeholders.
Provide on-call support for urgent issue resolution and anomaly troubleshooting.

Qualifications You Must Have
• Education:
o Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a scientific discipline
o OR 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
• Experience:
o Minimum of 4 years of relevant engineering experience (12 years without degree)
Required Skills:
• Proven background in one or more engineering disciplines (IR, RF, thermal, digital, etc.)
• Experience in:
o Designing, developing, testing, or operating infrared (IR) systems
o Developing tools and techniques to analyze IR system data
o Trending and troubleshooting IR systems
o Coordinating and leading technical teams through issue resolution
• Operational skills:
o Ability to develop and maintain operational procedures and training materials
o Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts and provide on-call support (1 week every 6–10 weeks)
• Technical skills:
o Familiarity with Linux and scripting (TCL/TK or PERL)
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Strong communication, presentation, and coordination skills
• Experience working in a multi-contractor, badge-less team environment
• Self-starter, able to complete tasks under general supervision
• Familiarity with key stakeholders, customers, and IR-related processes

Qualification We Prefer
• Experience with:
o Engineering change management in large system environments
o RF, power, thermal, or control system design and operations
• Programming/scripting proficiency:
o MATLAB and/or Python
