Join our Product Assurance leadership team as an Operations Quality Engineering Manager working with cutting edge technology. This position requires a proven record of leading teams and growing future leaders. The Operations Quality Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a team of Operations Quality Engineers, including staffing, employee development, supporting programs and ensuring products delivered to customers meet specified technical requirements.

The Operations Quality Engineering Manager must be able to work within a cross-functional, matrix organization in which there is close interaction and collaboration with customers, Program Quality, Operations, Engineering and other support functions and disciplines.

The Operations Quality Engineering Manager will help establish a culture of quality to ensure compliance with contractual, company, and regulatory requirements. The Operations Quality Manager will also apply quality engineering skills to develop and deploy effective and efficient methods for verifying and accepting products and processes, including the use of quantitative and qualitative tools to reduce abnormal affects contributing to Cost of Poor Quality.

The Operations Quality Engineering Manager will use and implement analytical tools and methods to: improve product design; minimize inspection; solve fabrication problems; complete specialized quality functions as data preparation, analysis, and reporting; develop quality techniques and methods; support process improvements; complete special investigations and assessments; take preventative and corrective actions; assess manufacturing and test data; support design reviews to ensure that quality is engineered into the products and processes; and develop product acceptance techniques and plans.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Practical knowledge in leading, coaching, and mentoring others in routine settings and/or difficult situations
  • Managing the execution of processes, projects and tactics for micro-electronics and other aerospace and defense hardware fabrication
  • Communicating program goals, objectives, requirements, and customer feedback across the factory and with cross-functional teammates and supply base to ensure alignment
  • Implementing AS9100 (Quality Management System) and AS9145 (Advanced Product Quality Planning) principles
  • Ability to perform and train others in Root Cause and Corrective Action techniques
  • Interpretation of Contract Quality Requirements and creating derivative process requirements
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives - lead and support factory and product process improvements


Qualifications you must have:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 10-years experience as a Quality, Manufacturing or Engineering professional including hands-on experience with high-reliability, state of the art hardware and systems OR an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of related engineering experience
  • Experience communicating with Senior Leadership, Engineers, and technical staff
  • Experience with personnel management including timekeeping, performance reviews, hiring and developing staffing plans
  • Previous experience presenting technical data to leadership and other internal/external stakeholders
  • Experience with project/program bid and proposal development
  • Experience leading industry or R&D Investigation, Six Sigma, Lean, Continuous Improvement, Tiger Team projects or other quality processes
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.


Qualifications we prefer:

  • An active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is desired prior to start date
  • Ability to establish statistical process control for low volume, high variety fabrication environments
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) license
  • Knowledge in the areas of Risk and Opportunity Management
  • Strong business acumen and etiquette
  • Strong organizational, collaborative and communication skills
  • Knowledge in managing end-item packages, reports, or communications to/with customers
  • Ability to balance relationships built on partnerships and required performance
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
