This position is expected to pay $85,000.00 - $125,000.00 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Responsibilities:

The Linux Systems Administrator (Mid) supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research & Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:
  • Implement, troubleshoot, and sustain Linux based physical and virtual machines for the Missile Defense Space Center.
  • Administer OpenShift Container Platform and container Repositories/Registries.
  • Work closely with network engineers, system engineers, cybersecurity engineers, and additional system administrators, to provide high quality, innovative engineering services to the Government customer.
  • Work with system engineers and Senior system administrators to identify and define requirements for new systems/ system modifications, developing designs, and implementing and testing solutions.
  • Work with cybersecurity engineers to conduct on-going vulnerability scanning and system patching, as necessary, to reduce cybersecurity risks.
  • Conduct daily system monitoring, system backup and restoral, and application upgrades to ensure optimal and continuous system operations.
  • Work with Senior system administrators to develop and maintain system administration procedures and baseline configuration documentation.
  • Be responsible for ensuring system software installations, maintenance, break/fix activities, and cyber security mitigations are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements.
  • Focus on creating, upgrading, managing and sustaining physical and virtual workstations and servers.

  • Effectively function as self-starter and identify risks, issues, and opportunities to the Lead Systems Administrator.
  • Have excellent presentation, oral and written skills to facilitate effective and efficient interchanges with program and government stakeholders.
  • Be able to report to Schriever SFB within 2 hours to support mission surge support events.
  • Support occasional evening and weekend events for the MDA customers.
  • Have a strong understanding of Linux system administration.
  • Have a positive, "can-do" attitude, be able to work in a very high pace and dynamic environment as well as embrace change.
  • Take on additional duties as needed to ensure mission success.

Basic Requirements:
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance or above.
  • Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 12 years of general experience; Associate degree and 10 years of general experience; bachelor's degree and 8 years of general experience; master's degree and 6 years of general experience.
  • Must have 7 years of directly related Linux systems administrator experience.
  • Must have 1 year of experience in management or leadership roles.
  • Must have a recognized active Linux certification (Linux+, RHCSA, LPIC, LFCS)
  • Must have a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification or higher (CCNA-Security, CySA+ (formerly CSA+), GICSP, GSEC, Security+, CND, SSCP)

Desired Requirements:
  • Have an understanding of system engineering processes
  • Have experience administering a Red Hat Linux environment using Red Hat Identity Management (IdM) Servers
  • Have a Red Hat Certified OpenShift Administrator Certification (EX280) or higher
  • Have experience installing, patching, configuring and troubleshooting Linux servers and workstations including associated peripherals
  • Have experience with DISA tools used in scanning and remediating computer system vulnerabilities
  • Have experience resolving hardware & software conflicts, performing server maintenance and break/fix activities
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of VMware virtualized environments
  • Have DoD networking experience with classified data networks and strong grasp of red/black concepts and IA compliance
