Job Overview

AEVEX Aerospace is looking for an air vehicle operator to perform flight operations, testing, training, demonstrations, and maintenance in CONUS and OCONUS environments depending on customer requirements.

Essential Functions
  • Conducts software, ground, and flight training within specified subject matter expertise.
  • Responsible for all elements of aircraft and flight operations during training program to include: Pre-mission flight planning, air vehicle and ground station pre-flight preparation, air vehicle startup, and checkout, air vehicle launch, air vehicle in-flight management, including all emergencies and diagnosis of in-flight problems.
  • Provides subject matter expertise in all aspects of ground and flight test, operation, and maintenance.
  • Understands government defense industry policies and procedures related to operating aircraft and supporting customer requirements.
  • Conducts formal classroom, workshops, seminars, and in-flight training under the supervision of a qualified instructor pilot.
  • Completes additional internal/external courses to ensure pilot skills are at the highest levels at all times.
  • Interfaces with internal/external customers to learn and provide system knowledge within the community.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies
  • Demonstrated prior professional experience briefing both internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated prior professional experience with the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Defense, or other Government contracting agencies.
  • Proficient computer skills: Office Suite, specifically spreadsheets, collaboration/communication applications, and manipulation of Adobe forms a must.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to work extended hours and/or shift work.
  • The ability to work in a team environment while accomplishing mission requirements.
  • Work Experience in aviation field in OCONUS (deployed) location.

Education / Certifications
  • HS/GED and 5 years of experience OR Bachelors and 3 years or more of related experience; OR Masters and 2 years or more experience.
  • Experience in the UAS industry and AVO experience with UAS utilizing open-source and proprietary autopilots (e.g. Piccolo)
  • Private Pilot (PPL) preferred (not required)
  • FAA Part 107

Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of relative experience and knowledge of basic UAS flight systems and operations, large scale work on developmental UAS preferred.
  • Experience in the UAS industry and AVO experience with UAS utilizing open-source and proprietary autopilots (e.g. Piccolo)
  • Previous qualifications as a UAS Operator (preferred)
  • At least 100+ flight hours on UAS platforms acting as PIC.
  • OCONUS deployment experience is a must.

Security Clearance
