Position Overview:
SHR Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Cloud Database Specialist III to lead the design, implementation, and management of advanced cloud-based database systems supporting mission-critical applications within a federal agency. The Cloud Database Specialist will work closely with infrastructure, application development, cybersecurity, and data analytics teams to ensure enterprise data management standards are met and sustained.

Position Overview:
SHR Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Cloud Database Specialist III to lead the design, implementation, and management of advanced cloud-based database systems supporting mission-critical applications within a federal agency. The Cloud Database Specialist will work closely with infrastructure, application development, cybersecurity, and data analytics teams to ensure enterprise data management standards are met and sustained.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud-based database architectures (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, NoSQL) across AWS, Azure, or OCI.
- Develop data models and implement schema designs that support scalable and performant data applications.
- Monitor and tune database performance, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
- Lead database migration efforts from legacy, on-premise systems to cloud-native or hybrid environments.
- Implement best practices for data integrity, backup and recovery, security, and compliance (e.g., FISMA, NIST).
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical database solutions.
- Automate database deployment, maintenance, and configuration tasks using DevOps tools and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
- Provide support for application development teams, including SQL optimization and stored procedure development.
- Document processes, configurations, and architecture diagrams; maintain change control and version tracking.
- Stay current with emerging database technologies and recommend enhancements to improve data workflows and efficiencies.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).Certifications:
Certifications:
At least one of the following:
- Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect
- Certified Implementation Specialist (relevant to database/cloud integration)
- AWS/Azure/GCP Database Certifications (e.g., AWS Database Specialty)
Experience:
- Must have 10 years or more experience
