Position Description

Serco is seeking a Simulation Support Team (SST) Manager 1 to join our growing team of professionals supporting the Army National Guard (ARNG) Mission Command Training Support Program (MCTSP) at Fort Indiantown Gap in Pennsylvania. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and coordinate advanced technical support for military simulation training exercises.

In this role, you will:
  • Conduct overall management coordination for training environment technical, networking, exercise design, and operational support.
  • Lead the technical team to install, operate, integrate, and troubleshoot communications, applications, and configurations.
  • Establish network addresses and connections; monitor and analyze system performance.
  • Recommend and perform application maintenance and upgrades; conduct data backups and system recovery.
  • Install information assurance vulnerability alert (IAVA) patches and security updates; respond to critical vulnerabilities before, during, and after training exercises using the Joint Land Component Constructive Training Capability (JLCCTC) suite.
  • Ensure Mission Training Complex (MTC) capability to conduct simultaneous large and medium-scale JLCCTC-supported exercises.
  • Coordinate Simulation Support Team (SST) activities at the MTC or Training Unit Commander (TUC) point of need.
  • Interpret exercise planning documents to install and configure hardware, software, and networks on physical or virtual systems.
  • Evaluate system errors, develop corrective actions, and author detailed problem tickets.
  • Maintain compliance with DoD Information Assurance (IA) protocols and ensure STIGs, patches, and security updates are current.
  • Backup critical data and maintain user accounts under authorized DoD guidelines.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in system administration, military simulations, and stimulation of tactical systems.


Qualifications

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience with military training and training support; or Master's degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience.
  • Experience in technical support and training requirements at Brigade or higher level.
  • Must have an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
  • Must have or be able to acquire Information Assurance Training (IAT) Level II Certification and meet all DoD computing environment training requirements within 180 days of beginning work.
  • Must be able to travel as needed (up to 25% of the time).
  • Must be able to work on-site at Fort Indiantown Gap in Pennsylvania.
  • Must be able to support non-standard shifts and work beyond 40 hours during exercise operations.
  • Must be able to move computer workstations and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and maneuver into workspace areas.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Strong leadership and coordination skills for technical teams.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting complex system integration and network challenges.
  • Understanding of Army simulation systems and JLCCTC architecture.
  • Ability to work independently and make effective decisions without direct supervision.

Additional desired experience and skills:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science (CS), Information Technology (IT), Cybersecurity, or related discipline.
  • Experience planning distributed and stand-alone simulations for Army training environments.
  • Experience as a Federation Manager of High-Level Architecture or Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) federations.
  • Previous FA57 or CP36 training and experience.
  • Certifications in Linux OS, Security+, and Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA).
  • Experience with VMWare, RedHat Enterprise Linux, Windows Server environments, and mass network deployments.
  • Operational support experience with JLCCTC in Corps-level and below events.
