Overview:
Join the IRES program supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) as a Network Engineer specializing in Operations & Maintenance (O&M). You will work within the Network Operations Center (NOC) to monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain mission-critical LAN/WAN infrastructure. This is a high-impact role supporting the Department of Defense, requiring a security-cleared professional with strong technical acumen and excellent customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor, administer, and support LAN/WAN infrastructure and systems.
Analyze network anomalies, troubleshoot issues, and apply timely resolutions.
Document end-to-end network topologies using Microsoft Visio.
Maintain and update engineering diagrams, redlines, and network documentation.
Support network changes, upgrades, and maintenance in accordance with security best practices.
Generate operational status reports and escalate incidents as necessary.
Provide VIP/Senior Leadership IT support within the National Capital Region.
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule and support regional travel as required.
Follow and improve documented IT processes and procedures.
Utilize SolarWinds, NetScout, and Remedy for monitoring, ticketing, and issue resolution.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience: 6+ years of hands-on network engineering and administration.
Certifications:
CompTIA Security+ (Required)
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) (Required)
Tools & Technologies:
SolarWinds, NetScout, Remedy
LAN/WAN technologies
Microsoft Visio
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing priorities
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience or exposure to the following is highly desirable but not required:
Cisco Routers/Switches, Cisco ISE
Software-defined networking (SD-WAN, SD-Access)
KVM switches, TCP/IP, UDP Multicast, OSPF
Legacy networking systems: SONET, LightWave, ATM, TDM, crypto/COMSEC
Tech control and secure communications (VoIP, Viper, Jabber, etc.)
Telecom protocols and standards (T1, T3, OC-3/12/48/192, RS-232/530)
Fiber optics and metallic cabling installation & termination
Working knowledge of the OSI model and interconnection principles
Experience supporting DISA circuits and coordination with carriers
