Job Description
HII Mission Technologies is seeking an experienced Data Lead to help our efforts at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in support of AFRL.
The Data Lead is responsible for leading and implementing the RQ Aerospace Systems Directorate Data Strategy across the organization ensuring that data is accessible, secure, accurate, and aligned with mission objectives. This role supports compliance with federal data mandates, facilitates data sharing and reuse, and enables data-driven decision-making
Essential Job Responsibilities
• Implement the enterprise data strategy aligned with the digital materiel management and mission objectives
• Serves as the primary advisor to leadership on data governance, quality, architecture, and analytics readiness
• Establish the data governance framework, including data stewardship roles, standards, and decisions rights
• Implement data classification, protection, and access control models
• Oversee the development of enterprise data architecture and integration with cloud, legacy, and modern platforms
• Implement metadata management, data catalogs, data fabric and data pipelines
• Collaborate with CITO regarding data infrastructure requirements to ensure secure, scalable, and interoperable infrastructure
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture team to develop the enterprise data architecture and integration plan for cloud, legacy, and modern platforms
• Enable advanced analytics, AI/ML readiness, and self-service BI capabilities by ensuring foundational data quality and access
• Support mission and operations teams with data products, KPIs and dashboards
• Assist in driving adoption of data standards and reusable data assets
• Coordinate data activities across business, mission, and mission support team
• Oversee data program milestones, metrics, risks, and performance reporting
Minimum Qualifications
9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
• Deep understanding of data governance, quality, metadata, privacy, and stewardship
• Familiarity with federal data strategy and agency-level data mandates
• Strong understanding of data architecture and modern technologies
• Experience with tools such as AWS/Azure data services, Tableau, PowerBI and others
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
Active Top Secret Clearance at time of hire.
Preferred Requirements
• Change management and cross-agency collaboration
• Ability to translate technical data concepts into business and mission value
• Familiarity with AI/ML data preparation and ethical data use principles
• Experience supporting R&D and defense missions
