SAIC is seeking a Chief Software Engineer SME to support the AF TENCAP HOPE 2.0 contract. The AF TENCAP HOPE 2.0 contract bridges intelligence community collection architectures, capabilities, and technologies with DoD operational and tactical requirements. This effort will deliver rapid, innovative, and cost-effective capabilities to meet warfighter needs, and will include bringing national capabilities to bear cross all warfighting domains spanning intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, combat applications, battlespace awareness, command and control, multi-level security and mission programs. This next generation approach shall employ the latest advancements in geolocation and tagging, sensor and data fusion, unconventional / asymmetric warfare, situational awareness, cyberspace and spectrum warfare, large data analytics, data lake, jamming technologies, sensor technologies, geo-registration to deliver a cutting-edge approach.

***This is a hybrid position located in Colorado Springs, CO requiring a TS with SCI eligibility clearance***

As a Chief Software Engineer SME on the AF TENCAP HOPE 2.0 project, you will lead the design and integration of software components within the broader system architecture. You will ensure that the software architecture supports system functionality, scalability, and interoperability with hardware and firmware components, in line with AF TENCAP's mission requirements.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in software development, particularly within classified projects. This individual should possess deep expertise in software factory principles, embedded software development, and secure coding practices. Experience with DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines is essential. Additionally, the candidate should be skilled at managing engineering design or system integration risks and providing continuous risk management oversight. The role involves taking on leadership responsibilities, mentoring junior engineers, leading technical discussions, and contributing significantly to the design and architecture of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead design and integration of software components within the system architecture.
  • Ensure software functionality, scalability, and interoperability with hardware and firmware.
  • Oversee development using DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines and advanced HIL testing.
  • Implement secure coding practices and ensure compliance with Federal Safety Standards and DoD requirements.
  • Conduct analysis, design, development, and testing of application software.
  • Translate business requirements into technical designs and perform code reviews.
  • Optimize application performance and ensure code quality through unit and integration tests.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineers, Testers, and Trainers to ensure cohesive project execution.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Mentor and manage junior engineers, providing guidance and support.
  • Lead technical discussions and contribute to system-level design decisions.
  • Integrate data engineering and data science techniques to enhance software capabilities.
  • Support AI/ML initiatives to drive innovative solutions.

Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 18 years of experience in software development or sustainment roles.
  • 5 years of experience in software development for classified DoD/IC systems.
  • 5 years of experience leading technical teams.
  • Experience with cloud DevSecOps and other CI/CD pipeline tools.
  • Experience in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C++, JavaScript).
  • Experience with cloud technologies and database systems (relational, NoSQL).
  • DoD 8570/8140 certifications or equivalent in Information Assurance and Cybersecurity (e.g., Security+ or higher).

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Strong understanding of software design patterns and principles.
  • Experience with data engineering, data science, and AI/ML technologies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Target salary range: $200,001 - $240,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
