Tyto Athene is searching for a Senior Data Center Operations Lead to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
The Senior Data Center Operations Lead manages, optimizes, and oversees enterprise data center operations to support USSOUTHCOM's mission-critical IT infrastructure. This role oversees a team of system administrators, technicians, and support staff while coordinating with engineering and cybersecurity teams to deliver reliable services in compliance with Did and industry standards.

The Senior Data Center Operations Lead manages, optimizes, and oversees enterprise data center operations to support USSOUTHCOM's mission-critical IT infrastructure. This role oversees a team of system administrators, technicians, and support staff while coordinating with engineering and cybersecurity teams to deliver reliable services in compliance with Did and industry standards.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and integrates data center strategies, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments
- Leads the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of servers, storage, networking, and virtualization technologies to sustain operational readiness
- Monitors system performance, conducts diagnostics, and resolves complex infrastructure issues to enhance efficiency and reliability
- Implements security controls, disaster recovery solutions, and compliance frameworks to align with DoD cybersecurity policies and risk management standards
- Executes lifecycle management of data center infrastructure, aligning operations with cybersecurity, risk mitigation, and continuity of operations (COOP) strategies
- Conducts system audits, compliance assessments, and performance optimizations to sustain enterprise-wide functionality and security
- Provides Tier 3 and Tier 4 technical leadership, mentoring administrators and collaborating with cross-functional IT teams to enhance data center resilience
- Develops automation frameworks, implements advanced monitoring solutions, and ensures seamless integration of enterprise systems with mission-critical operations
- Supports strategic IT initiatives by delivering secure, scalable, and high-performance data center solutions across global operational environments
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- 10+ years of IT operations experience with at least three years in a leadership role within a data center environment
- Strong knowledge of servers, virtualization, storage, and networking technologies
- Experience with incident/change/problem management frameworks
- Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity and physical security policies
- In-depth knowledge of RMF, STIGs, SCAP, DISA tools and DoD cybersecurity policies
Desired:
- Master's degree in Information Technology or related field
- Experience with Zero Trust Architecture implementation
- Data Center specific certifications
- Cisco Certified Network Associate or higher
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- ITIL v4 Foundation or higher
Clearance:
- Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI
Certification:
- DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role
- CompTIA Security+ CE.
- VMware VCP
- Certified Data Center Specialist or similar certification

- Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
