Tyto Athene is searching for a C2IP and COMSEC Release Manager - Journeyman to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
The Journeyman C2IP COMSEC Release Manager, manages and safeguards classified and unclassified communications security (COMSEC) materials to support USSOUTHCOM's secure communication operations. This role leads COMSEC operations, supervises alternate custodians, advises leadership on cryptographic asset management, and acts as the primary point of contact for inspections and audits.

The Journeyman C2IP COMSEC Release Manager, manages and safeguards classified and unclassified communications security (COMSEC) materials to support USSOUTHCOM's secure communication operations. This role leads COMSEC operations, supervises alternate custodians, advises leadership on cryptographic asset management, and acts as the primary point of contact for inspections and audits.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts the receipt, distribution, storage, and destruction of cryptographic keys, equipment, and related documents in compliance with DoD policies and regulations
- Implements security controls, key management procedures, and accountability measures to protect sensitive communication assets
- Monitors and audits COMSEC inventories, ensuring proper handling, documentation, and adherence to established security protocols
- Troubleshoots and resolves cryptographic system issues, coordinating with senior custodians and technical personnel to maintain secure operations
- Executes lifecycle management of COMSEC assets, aligning operations with cybersecurity, risk management, and continuity of operations (COOP) strategies
- Conducts periodic security assessments, compliance inspections, and audits to maintain adherence to National Security Agency (NSA) and DoD directives
- Provides Tier 2 technical support, assisting users with COMSEC-related issues and training personnel on secure handling procedures
- Coordinates with mission partners and stakeholders to support secure communications, incident response, and key management operations
- Maintains records, prepares reports, and integrates new cryptographic technologies to enhance secure communication capabilities
Required:
- Associate's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related technical field
- 4-9 years of direct COMSEC account management experience, including at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role
- Detailed knowledge of COMSEC policy, including EKMS/KMI, DIAM 50-series, and CJCSI 6510
- Experience supporting DoD or military operations, especially in C2IP or command/control environments
- Proficiency in using COMSEC accounting systems such as LCMS, ACES, and/or KMI.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping and reporting
Desired:
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- Prior experience with C2 systems, tactical communication systems, or joint operations
- Experience training personnel on COMSEC procedures and conducting inspections
- Familiarity with other information assurance programs such as RMF or cybersecurity audits
Clearance:
- TS/SCI clearance required
Certification:
- DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role

Compensation:
- Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
