ASRC Federal has a Database Administrator (DBA) opportunity supporting a new weather program at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. This is a Full-time on-site position at the William J. Hughes Technical Center.

We are looking for an individual to work independently, under general guidelines, and in a team environment. This individual:

• Has knowledge of both state-of-the-art and aging technologies that comprise the FAA's National Airspace System (NAS) and the products from emerging NAS modernization programs.
• Familiar:
  • With interfacing databases to client-side interfaces, DevSecOPS practices.
  • With object-oriented programming techniques, client/server development, cross-browser development, and Unix/Linux skills may be required.

Citizenship/Permanent Residency Requirement

All candidates must have the following to pass the Federal Background Investigation and obtain the FAA Public Trust security clearance.

• Be a US Citizen, have a US Green Card, or a Non-immigrant Work Authorization (VISA).
• Has resided in the US for three (3) consecutive years.
• The company is unable to sponsor candidates at this time.

Relocation Requirement

Candidate must reside or be willing to relocate within a commutable distance to Egg Harbor Township, NJ.

Education Requirement

All Non-US Degrees must have a US Equivalency Certificate provided by the candidate.

• High School Diploma or GED required and fifteen (15) years of related experience. OR
  • Associates Degree in Computer Science or Math, or in another technical field with a minimum of fifteen (15) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and thirteen (13) years of related work experience in a computer science or math field. OR
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Math, or in another technical field with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and eleven (11) years of related work experience in a computer science or math field.

Required Skills

• Experience with:
  • DevSecOps Practices
  • Databases (CockroachDB, SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB, etc.)
  • UNIX/Linux Operating Systems (RHEL)
• Ability to:
  • Work independently, as well as a team.
  • Research and problem solve.

Preferred Skills

• Previous FAA experience.
• Familiar with:
  • Database change management.
  • Docker
  • GitLab
  • OpenShift
  • System Admin Practices with fully automated deployment process.

Essential Daily Job Duties

• Provide 2nd level engineering support.
• Support software development/testing/integration/troubleshooting activities for weather systems.
• Able to conduct database design, modeling, backup and recovery, security, and performance tuning.
• Attend system design reviews, technical interchange meetings, any other meetings as requested to support program and team.
• Possess a technical understanding of systems, databases, networking, computing environments, virtualization.
• Able to support software applications in Linux environments.
• Able to provide troubleshooting, debugging, maintaining, and improving existing databases.
