Job Title: Network and Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Langley AFB, VA
Clearance Level: Active DoD - Secret
Required Certification(s):
• DoD 8570 Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE)

SUMMARY
Design, maintain, and automate enterprise-scale cloud and legacy infrastructure to support the Air Operations Center (AOC) across both CONUS and OCONUS locations. This role is responsible for ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performing network operations while contributing to infrastructure modernization efforts using AWS and automation tools.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Network Design & Engineering
Design, implement, and manage secure, high-availability network architectures for enterprise-scale systems.
Configure and maintain routing protocols such as EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP.
Identify and define network requirements, including redundancy, segmentation, and encryption.
Administer and secure networks and manage next-generation firewalls (Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper).
Cloud & Infrastructure Operations
Engineer, maintain and automate hybrid cloud environments, including AWS and on-premise IaaS platforms.
Support cloud/hybrid cloud architecture and containerized environments.
Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to optimize cloud performance and reliability.
Monitor and troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, ensuring appropriate escalation with vendors.
Security & Compliance
Implement network security controls and policies based on best practices and risk assessments.
Design secure networks, systems, and application architectures aligned with DoD and agency security guidelines.
Manage encryption, VPN solutions (e.g., DMVPN), and SDN platforms (e.g., Cisco ACI, Juniper Contrail).
Collaboration, Documentation & Leadership
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
Collaborate with technical writers to develop and maintain detailed network documentation, diagrams, and SOPs.
Contribute to strategic planning for network architecture and modernization.
Lead internal knowledge-sharing workshops and contribute to the creation of reusable templates and checklists (e.g., STIGs).
Serve as a mentor to junior team members and foster a culture of collaboration and technical excellence.

Education, Background, and Years of Experience
• 5+ years of experience designing and managing enterprise networks.
• 5+ years supporting cloud and containerized environments (AWS, Azure, etc.).
• 5+ years using Agile and lean software development methodologies.
• Demonstrated experience with:
o Long-haul circuit technologies (TDM, MetroEthernet, MPLS)
o Encryption/VPN technologies (e.g., DMVPN)
o Software-defined networking (e.g., Cisco ACI, Juniper Contrail)
o Network monitoring tools (CruzOC, SolarWinds, Splunk)
o Troubleshooting hybrid, cloud, and on-prem network environments
o Secure network design and architecture

ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Technical Tools & Platforms
Required: Palo Alto Panorama
Preferred: Palo Alto Networks, AWS, Terraform, Ansible, GitLab, LucidChart

Additional Skills
• Proven experience leading infrastructure projects and collaborating cross-functionally.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, particularly around documentation and reporting.
