Lead Personnel Security Specialist
In this role you will...
  • Provide comprehensive personnel security support to the Executive Office for United States Attorneys (EOUSA) and 94 U.S. Attorney's Offices (USAOs), supporting approximately 13,000 employees, students, and contractors.
  • Receive, review, and assemble detailed security packages in JSTARS to support federal personnel security specialists in determining suitability and fitness for employment.
  • Assist in the evaluation of reports of investigations and other records to determine an individual's suitability for employment, ensuring national security interests are protected.
  • Support personnel security processes including clearance requests, contractor waivers, and eAPP submissions; resolve issues related to eAPP packages and other pre-employment or reinvestigative documentation.
  • Provide administrative assistance in support of personnel security operations, including database entry, file management, and document preparation.
  • Interpret and analyze data from personnel security databases and systems including PIPS/CVS, NCIC, and internal file share platforms.
  • Receive, log, and review security-related documentation to verify compliance with procedural requirements before initiating background investigations.
  • Safeguard and manage sensitive investigative data in accordance with DoD Manual 5200.02 and other applicable guidance.
  • Draft reports based on data obtained from personnel security records and investigative materials for review by federal personnel security specialists.
  • Support the adjudication process for background investigations conducted by OPM, FBI, or other agencies; assist in analysis and recommendation development for suitability and fitness determinations.
    • Monitor, track, and compile results from background investigations and prepare documentation for further review or action.
    • Evaluate both favorable and derogatory information as part of the adjudicative process.
    • Draft Letters of Interrogatory and other adjudicative documentation including worksheets, proposed actions, and summaries for review.
  • Maintain and update personnel security databases (e.g., JSTARS), ensuring accuracy and timeliness when creating new cases or modifying records.
  • Remove former personnel and update contractor status or clearance data as required.
  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills when analyzing data and preparing security-related correspondence or recommendations.
  • Maintain organized records and prepare reports and analysis on personnel security activities.
  • Assist in any other personnel security duties or special projects as requested by EOUSA or USAO leadership.
  • Perform Additional duties as assigned

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent 5 years work experience

Experience Requirements:
  • 10 years of experience or if no bachelor's degree, 15 years of experience of relevant personnel security experience involving National Security Information Background and Public Trust Investigation requirements.
  • Experience implementing ever evolving complex personnel security background investigation requirements.

Security Clearance Requirements:
  • Public Trust Required

Other Requirements:
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Capable of managing time-sensitive and confidential tasks with professionalism.

This position is contingent on funding.***

The anticipated compensation range for this position i s $85,000- $110,000. Multiple considerations are taken into account when determining the final salary/hour rate, including but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, education and certifications, relevant work experience, related skills and competencies, as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
