Occupational Safety and Health Specialist
In this role you will...
  • Conduct health and safety surveys and inspections at EOUSA and USAO facilities to ensure compliance with established safety standards.
  • Draft detailed evaluations and recommendations from inspections and revise based on DOJ component officer feedback.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of agency-wide occupational health and safety policies.
  • Ensure all materials meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and DOJ requirements.
  • Serve as the Office of Record for all work-related injury and illness documentation for EOUSA and USAOs.
    • Handle approximately 1,200 phone inquiries, 600 email inquiries, and 95 reportable injury cases annually.
  • Investigate workplace injuries, accidents, and reported unsafe conditions.
  • Provide briefings, training sessions, and presentations on safety and health topics.
  • Organize and facilitate Occupational Safety and Health Conferences at DOJ training facilities.
  • Participate in special projects and studies impacting overall safety and health across DOJ facilities.
  • Additional duties as assigned

Experience Requirements:
  • Experience developing and managing occupational safety and health programs across a diverse, multi-location organization
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and federal safety compliance standards
  • Proven ability to conduct facility inspections, identify hazardous conditions, and recommend corrective actions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on clear documentation and professional interaction
  • Experience managing injury/illness documentation, investigations, and safety program tracking

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience OR 10 years of directly related experience with no degree

Security Clearance Requirements:
Public Trust

Other Requirements:
  • May require lifting or moving equipment/files up to 50 lbs
  • Frequent repetitive tasks such as documentation, filing, or data entry
  • May report to a physical location and move between buildings as necessary
  • Ability to manage stress and maintain professionalism in fast-paced environments
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a collaborative team

This position is contingent on funding.***

The anticipated compensation range for this position i s $85,000- $110,000. Multiple considerations are taken into account when determining the final salary/hour rate, including but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, education and certifications, relevant work experience, related skills and competencies, as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
