Tyto Athene is searching for a Senior RF Engineer to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
The Senior RF Engineer leads the design, optimization, and implementation of RF systems and networks, including cellular, satellite, and wireless communication systems. This position leads efforts supporting DoD and joint warfighter RF communications networks and ensures systems meet mission and security requirements.

Tyto Athene is searching for a Senior RF Engineer to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
The Senior RF Engineer leads the design, optimization, and implementation of RF systems and networks, including cellular, satellite, and wireless communication systems. This position leads efforts supporting DoD and joint warfighter RF communications networks and ensures systems meet mission and security requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts advanced analysis of RF performance, troubleshooting complex issues related to interference, signal degradation, and network optimization
- Develops and refines RF specifications and standards for systems, aligning them with organizational and regulatory requirements
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers and network architects, to integrate RF systems into broader communication infrastructures
- Guides the deployment and testing of RF equipment, adhering to industry standards and specifications while optimizing system performance
- Provides mentorship and technical guidance to junior and journeyman RF engineers, fostering skill development and promoting best practices in RF design and troubleshooting
- Leads RF site surveys and analysis, optimizing antenna placement, coverage areas, and signal strength to meet performance objectives
- Evaluates and implements emerging RF technologies, recommending solutions that enhance system capabilities and meet evolving business needs
- Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation for RF systems, including designs, test results, and troubleshooting logs to promote knowledge sharing
- Works with regulatory bodies to maintain compliance with RF spectrum management, licensing, and emission standards
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in RF engineering with hands-on work in tactical or satellite communications
- Deep understanding of signal processing, modulation techniques, and antenna theory
- Experience with RF and spectrum analysis tools and software (e.g., Anritsu, Keysight, Pathloss, EDX SignalPro)
Desired:
- Master's degree in related field
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and interface with senior government and DoD stakeholders
- Advanced RF systems integration and test experience
- In-depth knowledge of crypto devices (e.g., KG-175), secure voice/data comms, and cross-domain solutions
- Familiarity with MILSATCOM architecture and Joint Tactical Networking environments (JTRS, WAVE)
- Excellent communication and technical documentation skills
- Certified Wireless Network Expert
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (Wireless or Collaboration)
- Certified Satellite Professional (GVF or WTA certification)
Clearance:
- TS/SCI clearance required
Certification:
- DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role
- CompTIA Security+
- FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) or equivalent
