Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Sr. Principal Technical Editor and Writer position to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Melbourne, Florida. This position will report to the MDC2 Product Support Tech Publications Manager and will be a key member of the MDC2 E2 Technical Publications team.

Accomplish

This individual will be responsible but not limited to:
  • Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences.
  • Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals.
  • Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts.
  • Conducts quality review of materials.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have Bachelor's degree with 8 years of applicable experience, OR 6 years with Master's Degree OR 4 years with a PhD.
  • Experience writing in XML/S1000D International Specification for Technical Publications/IETM/Data Module writing (Arbortext, EAGLE-EPS, or similar program)
  • Experience authoring S1000D formatted Data Modules for USN Navy Standard IETM Viewer (NSIV) and Support Equipment Technical Manuals in PDF format
  • Complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards
  • Full knowledge of industry practices.
  • Must be able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and system description documents.
  • Military experience as an air vehicle maintainer at the organizational or intermediate levels of maintenance.
  • Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated DoD Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Independently demonstrates the skill and ability to perform complex professional tasks
  • Experience authoring S1000D 4.1 or higher formatted Data Modules utilizing the EAGLE-EPS publishing system
  • Experience in utilizing the NAVAIR or Technical Order Maintenance Manuals
  • Experience as an air vehicle maintainer at the Organizational or Intermediate Levels of maintenance on E2C/D Aircraft.

Salary Range: $89,100.00 - $133,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
