The Personnel Security Specialist supports SEA 00P4 DH Personnel handling or coordinating submission for SECRET/TOP SECRET security clearances eligibility through Office of Electronic Application (e-APP).
Responsibilities
- Initiates the background check process.
- Processes e-QIP.
- Review PERSEC Questionnaires (SF-86 and SF-85) and verify information submitted on applications.
- Update DISS with e-APP data when sending security clearance information to Office of Personnel Management
- Support SEA 00P4 for passing, verifying, and receiving clearances; confirming security eligibility; processing visitor requests; processing visit certifications and permanent certifications; and maintaining a repository in DISS.
- Obtains fingerprints and accesses various systems to obtain reports and relevant information for suitability and security adjudications.
- Initiate and process DCSA/e-APP investigations for all military and civilian personnel assigned to NAVSEA HQ, by initiating e-AAPs every five (5) years.
- Performs an array of technical, research, and administrative activities supporting the personnel security program.
- Validate personnel enrolled into the Continuous Evaluation Program,
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Active DoD Secret clearance.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited High School or possess a General Education Development certificate.
- Must have five (5) years of experience in a clerical or related position.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to pass a Background Check and be in good financial standing.
- Must be skilled in the use of a computer, and word processing and spreadsheet applications software such as Microsoft Office Suites and other general office equipment.
- Must clearly speak English and demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication and analytical skills and have the ability to effectively deal with both internal and external customers.
- Skill in operating a personal computer and standard office equipment.
- Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and Outlook.
- Skill in satisfactorily dealing with customers.
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must have demonstrated excellent skills in customer relations .
