Makai is seeking an Application Support Specialist to support the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM) Model Management Office (MMO) contract. Your career at Makai enables the AFSIM MMO to fulfill its mission to “provide U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition, operations analysis, and research and engineering communities with an ever-expanding toolset to ease scenario and model creation, strengthen analytical conclusions, and enrich virtual wargaming experiences.” As a member of our team, you will support the corporate and customer mission to provide application support services for AFSIM MMO.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide subject matter or domain experts to advise or assist the MMO on the use of MMO products or services for Operations Research (OR)
- Advise or assist the MMO when communicating with key stakeholders to include sponsors, users, working groups, or communities of interest on product capabilities or methodologies to conduct OR in support of evidence-based decision making
- Advise or assist the MMO in the development of engagement threads, mission threads, and baseline scenarios that illustrate all-domain model integration and analysis
- Coordinate with community users, stakeholders, and product managers/owners to identify appropriate analysis measures, output formats, and digital workflows that derive mission engineering evidence, enhance V&V confidence, and convey analytical risk
- Support product development by researching and providing authoritative sources of data to support model development and validation.
- Advise or assist the MMO to implement effective and responsive governance processes. Processes should promote community-informed practices and encourage contribution from a variety of sources to include Government programs, industry partners, and end-users.
- Provide key stakeholders with awareness of analysis tool development plans and progress.
- Advise or assist the MMO to manage stakeholder expectations and ensure continued alignment with product vision and strategy to include addressing capabilities and limitations of MMO products related to statistical decision making.
- Drive stakeholder feedback to product backlog(s) to ensure responsive development priorities

- Well Organized
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) in simulation, integration and modeling
- Experience working with senior leadership
- Ability to initiate engagements with user stakeholders on a regular basis through established working groups or communities of interest
- Understanding of authoritative sources include, but are not limited to, Joint/Service doctrine documents, the Uniform Joint Task List (UJTL), joint planning documents, employment guides (TTPs), technical orders, and program offices
- Ability to harmonize governance practices with enterprise (DoD, DAF, AFMC, and/or AFRL) requirement management systems or governance bodies, and assist on issues of classification, releasability, marking compliance and data mobility
Degree/Education and Training Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Operations Research
Working Conditions
- Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus
- Travel Requirement: 30%
Security Clearance
- A Secret Clearance is required for this position
Estimated Compensation
$112,000 - $115,000
Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to employee's experience, skills, education, industry, location, company size, and overall market demand.
