JANUS Research Group is seeking a Data Architect.
The Senior Data Architect will support the U.S. Army's Global Force Information Management (GFIM) or Army Training Information System (ATIS) program by designing and implementing enterprise level data architecture strategies. This role will focus on developing robust data frameworks, ensuring data integration and governance, and driving innovative solutions to support Army Force Management initiatives.
The Data Architect will collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver scalable and secure data solutions in alignment with DoD requirements.
Data Architecture and Strategy: Define and maintain the enterprise data architecture strategy for the GFIM program, aligning with organizational objectives and mission critical requirements. Develop and document data models, data flows, and database schemas to support system functionality, integration, and reporting needs. Lead the design and implementation of data lakes, data warehouses, and ETL pipelines to ensure efficient data processing and storage. Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, and security.
Data Integration and Management: Design and oversee the integration of data from diverse sources, including legacy systems, cloud platforms, and external APIs. Develop and manage System Interface Agreements (SIAs) to support seamless data exchange across systems. Implement metadata management and create data catalogs to enhance data discoverability and usability. Support the development of scalable data solutions to handle high-volume, complex datasets.
Collaboration and Leadership:
Collaborate with program stakeholders, technical teams, and functional SMEs to define data requirements and solutions. Provide technical leadership to data engineers and developers, ensuring adherence to architectural best practices. Engage with leadership to present data strategies, roadmaps, and technical designs, bridging the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders. Mentor junior team members and provide training to enhance their skills in data architecture and related technologies.
Innovation and Problem-solving: Research and evaluate emerging technologies and methodologies to improve data architecture capabilities and efficiency. Develop innovative solutions to address complex data challenges, including data migration, transformation, and analytics. Identify and resolve data related issues, ensuring system performance, reliability, and scalability.
Compliance and Security: Ensure data solutions comply with DoD and Army cybersecurity policies, including RMF, FedRAMP, and FISMA standards. Support data protection efforts by implementing encryption, access controls, and other security measures.

Job Requirements / Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in data science, Engineering, or related field and 10 or more years of experience in data architecture, integration, and modeling.
- AWS Certified Data Analytics or Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer, or by demonstrating equivalent knowledge through a combination of education and at least 10 years of relevant experience in data architecture, integration, or modeling.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or equivalent.
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or equivalent.
- Security Clearance: Secret
- Location flexible with preference to Ft. Eustis or Fort Belvoir
