Position Description

As a Configuration Management (CM) Specialist, you will be on a team that is evaluating and managing the delivery of new amphibious ships and landing craft to the fleet. Our team is led by a Program Manager having decades of experience working in the DoD and Shipbuilding Industry. Our Naval Acquisition and Sustainment Operation provides critical services to nearly all U.S. Navy amphibious ships and craft. You will work closely with Government and industry professionals as well as shipbuilders and other support personnel. In this role, you will:
  • Implement Configuration Management (CM) by establishing and maintaining the integrity of work products using configuration identification, configuration control, configuration status accounting, and configuration audits.
  • Create, maintain, follow, and enforces CM policies and processes.
  • Leverage Government Off The Shelf (GOTS) and Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) CM tools to manage configuration items.
  • Collaborate with government and contractor personnel to develop technical documentation per Technical Instruction (TI) specific documentation requirements.
  • Lead and direct the work of others including providing mentorship.


Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A Bachelor`s degree and 5-7 years of relevant experience in Configuration Management. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 10 years of applicable work experience.
• Significant experience in U.S. Navy programs or operations.
• DoD/Navy ACAT I Program experience.
• Must be able to obtain an Interim DoD Secret clearance post-employment.
• United States (U.S.) citizenship.
• Ability to operate personal computers and have good knowledge and operational abilities with Microsoft Office tools.
• Ability to support activities in a shipyard or naval facility. Some work may occur within an industrial field office, outdoors and/or aboard ship while the ship is undergoing construction, alteration, activation, overhaul, repair, and/or underway trials. Walking and climbing throughout the ship, to accomplish ship checks, may be required. Exposure to high noise levels, uncomfortable temperatures, heights, or other industrial safety conditions will require use of personal protective clothing and equipment.
• Ability to travel (less than 10%) to support activities in a shipyard or naval facility or on-board ship while underway.

Additional desired experience and skills:

• Relevant U.S. Navy or U.S. Coast Guard experience in the areas of ship construction or ship repair is desired. Amphibious warship ship and/or craft construction or ship repair work experience is ideal.
• Relevant experience should be demonstrated in one or more of the five pillars of Configuration Management (Configuration Identification, Configuration Control, Configuration Status Accounting, Configuration Verification and Audit, and Data Management)
