Duties

  • Serves as a Battle Captain overseeing the execution of Command and Control of Defense Information Systems Network Transport Defensive Cyber Operations, and key mission areas supporting Mission Partners, and warfighters across the globe.
  • Provide leadership, advice, guidance, planning, prioritization, development, management, training, and coordination to watch floor personnel.
  • Monitors Defense Information Systems Network health to create a timely and efficient resolution of network issues, and provides timely, accurate and relevant information.

  • This position requires the incumbent to work an alternative or shift work schedule. Incumbent may be subject to varying work shifts for mission support requirements of 7 days per week, 24-hours per day.
Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
Attention to Detail- experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been asked by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards
Customer Service - experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products and services that are tailored to meet customer needs
Oral Communication -briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience
Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions

Qualifying Experience:

For the GG-13, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GG-12 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GG-12if outside the Federal service, is required.

Qualifying experiences is defined as Leading a professional workforce while briefing senior leadership on reportable cyberspace and defensive cyberspace events as well as executing Command and Control (C2) operations over a global network operations and incident management events.

In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of the competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position. Applicants must describe how their experience meets the competencies within the body of the resume. No separate statements addressing competencies are required.

Competencies:

There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experienceat the GG-13 grade level.

  • This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system.

  • A one year probationary period may be required.

  • This position has been designated as "Mission Essential." Incumbent will be required to report to work or relocate to a new duty location, within the United States, in times of local/national emergency.
