We're seeking a talented and passionate Software Technical Editor & Writer to join our elite Minotaur software development team in Hanover, MD. This isn't just about documentation; it's about crafting compelling narratives that empower users and elevate our cutting-edge software.

What You'll Do: Forge Clarity and Impact

As a pivotal member of our team, you'll be the architect of understanding, bridging the gap between intricate code and diverse audiences. You'll take ownership of creating and maintaining customer-focused content that speaks to both technical experts and everyday users. Get ready to:
  • Become the voice of Minotaur: Write and meticulously update user guides, release notes, and a wide array of technical documentation that brings the Minotaur software to life.
  • Collaborate and conquer: Work seamlessly within our agile sprint structure, partnering closely with brilliant managers, developers, and cybersecurity specialists.
  • Be a subject matter expert: Leverage your expertise to drive configuration management processes and spearhead technical documentation standardization across the organization, ensuring consistency and excellence.
  • Shape the narrative: Write, rewrite, and expertly edit technical documents, including procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, and operational specifications, translating complex information into easily digestible content.
  • Uncover the story: Acquire deep subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing production methods, and delving into technical specifications, blueprints, and engineering illustrations.
  • Visualize understanding: Oversee the preparation of compelling illustrative materials, carefully selecting and integrating drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to enhance comprehension.
  • Champion quality: Conduct rigorous quality reviews of all materials, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to the highest standards.


Essential Job Responsibilities

Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. Conducts quality review of materials.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills
  • Be proficient in Microsoft word formatting and collaborative editing methodologies
  • Be familiar with general software development processes
  • Have a desire to learn more about operator approaches to utilizing software to understand sensor data
  • Must be a US citizen and have the ability to obtain a US level Secret clearance


Preferred Requirements

  • A Bachelors Degree or higher in Computer Science
  • Previous experience as an Editor and Technical Writer
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Previous experience working with sensor data
  • Possess an active US level Secret clearance


Physical Requirements

Job performance will normally require only minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment.
