Duties
Help
  • Performs personnel management functions, evaluating employees' performance, maintaining discipline, approving leave, recommending personnel actions such as promotions, and reassignments.
  • Develops, updates, and disseminates guidance and staff interpretation for all aspects of wartime and contingency planning relative to 599th Trans BDE.
  • Conducts periodic performance counseling and prepares evaluations on military and civilian personnel.
  • Furnishes advice and guidance to subordinates on work and administrative matters.
  • Evaluates current capabilities and intelligence, providing detailed analyses of 599th Trans Brigade capability.
  • Directs contingency planning for the 599th Transportation Brigade and its subordinate Transportation Batallions.
  • Prepares after-action reports and lessons learned, providing a detailed assessment of mission performance during exercises and contingencies.

  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position has been designated as "Emergency-Essential" and takes precedence over any transportation agreement or military recall status.
  • This is an obligated position. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour.
  • This position is a drug testing position. Incumbent will be subject to a pre-employment screening, and randomn testing thereafter.
  • This position is a Supervisory position as defined by the Office of Personnel Management OPM General Schedule Supervisory Guide GSSG. A one year probation is required to perform the duties of a supervisor unless previously completed.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Overseeing the implementation of command objectives; 2) Providing direction on tactical mobility execution; 3) Conducting evaluations for continuous improvement; 4) Managing exercise budgets throughout Fiscal Year; and 5) Conducting employee performance counseling for annual evaluations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

  • This is a Term Appointment NTE - Position may be filled as a Term Appointment NTE 3 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.
  • Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a TERM appointment will be appointed/converted into a TERM appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position .
