Specialized Experience : One year of specialized experience which includes 1) serving as a high-level expert and advisor to senior leadership in developing and/or analyzing overall policies, programs, regulations and development of short and long range plans at the operational to strategic level; 2) reviewing and analyzing complex information; 3) developing and evaluating action plans to address specific issues; and 4) providing guidance, performance expectations, and motivation to employees to encourage career growth, advancement, and enhancing organization excellence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).

Help
- Provide supervision and leadership to subordinates both civilian and military.
- Advise subordinates on administrative matters and determines training needs.
- Represent the G-3 in meetings with senior leaders in the command.
- Manages command priorities within the construct of the campaign plan and the priorities of the Commanding General and G3.
- Supervises the analysis of activities, projects and yearly budget requirements, coordinating with other Divisions, Offices, Directorates, and Subordinate Commands, as appropriate.
- Develops USARCENT readiness training, exercise, and planning guidance for major subordinate commands.
