At the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division in Patuxent River, MD, SA-TECH supports the Aircraft Instrumentation Division (AID) of the Prototyping, Experimentation, and Instrumentation (PIE) Department and we are currently looking to hire a Senior Engineer to manage and support instrumentation systems on various type/model/series aircraft, draft and manage investment proposals for all funding types, provide senior level guidance to OEMs, Prime Contractors, and PMAs on instrumentation development and design. The individual should also be an expert in instrumentation equipment and provide technical trade studies that will drive investments and procurements for future growth of AID products.

The following job functions are basic requirements (and other duties may be assigned):
- Manages and supports instrumentation systems on various type/model/series aircraft, draft and manage investment proposals for all funding types, provide senior level guidance to OEMs, Prime Contractors, and PMAs on instrumentation development and design.
- Possesses expertise in instrumentation equipment and provides technical trade studies that will drive investments and procurements for future growth of AID products.
- Applies engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test, and evaluate hardware and software, including military weapons systems.
- Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation.
- Applies engineering experience to perform functions such as system integration, configuration management, quality assurance testing, or acquisition and resource management.
- Analyzes, designs, develops, implements, tests, and evaluates automated data processing software related to engineering or functional requirements of military weapon systems, associated support systems, or management information systems.
- Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) in Test and Evaluation (T&E), electrical or mechanical systems, or airborne platforms.
- Performs as an engineering team leader in developing engineering procedures and controls, managing project efforts, and resolving problems.
- Conditions will vary but most of the work will be performed in enclosed buildings.
- Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching.
- Work will include lengthy sessions at a computer.
Requirements
Education/Experience/Skills:
- A Master's Degree in an engineering discipline (aerospace, chemical, civil, computer, electrical, electronics, industrial, materials, mechanical, nuclear) from a school where the degree curriculum was accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
- A minimum of 20 years' experience in performing the stated functions.
- Current Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
- U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Top Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Top Secret clearance throughout employment.
- All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
