Spry Methods is seeking Senior and Intermediate Data Scientists to support national security initiatives by delivering actionable data-driven insights. You will collaborate directly with investigators and analysts to understand complex data challenges, apply advanced analytical methods, and deliver results that impact critical missions.
What Your Day-To-Day Looks Like (Position Responsibilities):
- Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments.
- Plans and leads major technology assignments.
- Evaluates performance results and recommends major changes affecting short-term project growth and success.
- Functions as a technical expert across multiple project assignments.
- May supervise others.
- Collaborate with non-technical, national security investigators and analysts to understand their data science needs, suggest solutions, and complete the work in a timely manner.
- Lead and/or design machine learning (ML), statistical analysis, and data analysis tasks.
- Leverage existing and/or conduct custom Extract Transform Load (ETL) work to aggregate data from multiple repositories and condition the data to provide novel insights.
- Interpret data, identify features and model variables, assess the quality of model outputs, generate alternatives, and conduct remediation.
- Find and design new approaches to handling, analyzing, and using large volumes of data and/or data sets, and explore fundamental issues with data handling, search, and retention.
- Design new software code to improve data search processes, and design, test, and validate the quality of data and data processes.
- Automate routine workflows and data analysis steps to assist with workflow automation.
- Report results of analyses and provide actionable recommendations.
What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Requirements):
- TS/SCI Clearance
- Eight (8) years of relevant experience with a BS in Data Science, Mathematics, Information Science, Statistics, Engineering, Business Analytics, or related degree
- OR Four (4) years of relevant experience with an MS degree in Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related degree.
- High proficiency in Python and a deep understanding of data science tools and methodologies.
- Proven ability to independently lead complex analytical tasks and mentor junior team members.
Ideally, You Also Have (Preferred Qualifications):
- Preferred Experience:
- Experience supporting national security or law enforcement missions.
- Familiarity with big data platforms and tools (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Elasticsearch).
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and data quality standards in secure environments.
