ARS is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Security Engineer to provide specialized engineering support for DoD and Air Force weapon systems programs. This role combines traditional systems engineering with advanced cybersecurity and systems security disciplines to ensure the operational safety, suitability, and effectiveness (OSS&E) of critical defense systems. The successful candidate will support airworthiness certification processes, conduct security assessments, and provide engineering expertise across the full system lifecycle from requirements development through deployment and sustainment. Candidate must possess an active TS/SCI clearance and have a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

Responsibilities include:
- Apply DoD, AF, and engineering/scientific principles to enhance performance and sustainability of existing and future weapon systems
- Support airworthiness certification processes using MIL-HDBK-516C criteria and maintain Critical Safety Item (CSI) lists
- Translate user requirements into comprehensive weapon system requirements for design, development, fabrication, test, and evaluation
- Conduct systems security engineering activities including anti-tamper, cybersecurity, hardware/software assurance, and supply chain risk management
- Perform threat and vulnerability analyses, risk assessments, and develop corrective actions for critical supportability issues
- Support milestone reviews, design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR), and certification/accreditation packages
- Develop and review technical documentation including ICDs, ORDs, CDDs, System Specifications, SEPs, and TEMPs
- Evaluate contractor proposals, Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), and Contract Change Proposals (CCPs)
- Support Life Cycle Systems Engineering (LCSE) processes and OSS&E compliance activities
- Participate in value stream mapping and AFSO21 performance improvement initiatives
- Conduct material solution analyses and support acquisition strategy development
- Manage configuration management, data management, and risk management processes
- Provide rapid response engineering support for critical system issues and safety concerns
- Other duties as assigned
Key Technical Requirements:
- Security Engineering Disciplines: Anti-Tamper, Trusted Systems & Networks, Cybersecurity, Hardware/Software/Firmware Assurance
- Risk Management: Supply Chain Risk Management, Cyber Resiliency, Information Protection, Critical Program Information (CPI) Identification
- Systems Engineering: Requirements analysis, system architecture, interface control, configuration management
- Airworthiness & Safety: MIL-HDBK-516C, AFPD 62-6, System Integrity Programs (MECSIP), mishap risk assessment
- Acquisition Support: Source selection, cost estimation, milestone preparation, acquisition strategy development
- Technical Documentation: System specifications, test plans, technical reports, briefing materials
- DoD/AF Standards: Understanding of AFIs, OIs, LCSE processes, OSS&E requirements
- Test & Evaluation: Test planning, acceptance procedures, technical assessments
- Program Management: IMP/IMS development, schedule management, technical reviews
Required Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI security clearance
- Must be a US Citizen
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Experience with DoD/Air Force weapon systems engineering
- Knowledge of systems security engineering principles and practices
- Understanding of airworthiness certification processes and safety engineering
