Basic Requirements for Clinical Psychologist GS-0180-15:
Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.
License: A current, active, and unrestricted license as a Psychologist in a state, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States. (NOTE: You must submit a copy of your license with your application package).
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: providing overall direction, staff management and program management for psychological health research efforts; supervising and directing the work of employees, who oversee the work of an interdisciplinary team of contract and government researchers, clinicians, research associates, and administrative support staff; developing and providing briefings related to psychological health research. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

- Evaluate the effectiveness of activities supervised in terms of mission accomplishments, quality and quantity standards, procedures, policy, regulatory compliance and technical competence.
- Responsible for putting into practice the research and evidence synthesis that the teams within the branches provide.
- Provide oversight and management of the organization's development and implementation of evidence-based assessments, interventions and treatments in order to improve the quality of psychological and psychiatric health specialty care.
- Serve as delegated authority for planning, directing, and coordinating all assigned psychological health missions and functions associated with developing, managing, integrating, synchronizing, and resourcing program activity.
- Oversee the work of an interdisciplinary team of contract and government researchers, clinicians, research associates, and administrative support staff.
- Ensure that assigned personnel receive appropriate training, professional development opportunities and awards.
- Formulates new theoretical or conceptual frameworks from which to derive best practice objectives and testable hypotheses when there is little or no theory to guide the research.
- Oversee high-level research and program initiatives and clears, amends or provides recommendations for change on activities and products.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

- This position requires travel 10% of the time (TDY).
- One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
