Systems Engineer - Space/Ground Systems

Contract Position
Active Top Secret/SCI Clearance Required
Pay Estimated: $82.19-$87.19/Hour

Contribute to a company at the forefront of mission-critical systems and technologies in defense and security. This leader in global defense integrates advanced technology to deliver information and insights on the battlefield, offering roles that support security and technological superiority across multiple domains.
Responsibilities:
- Translate customer and stakeholder requirements into scalable, end-to-end system architectures.
- Decompose system-level requirements into component-level designs, interfaces, and test cases.
- Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using tools like Cameo or MagicDraw for system design and documentation.
- Support integration, test coordination, and Agile development cycles with software developers and mission teams.
- Contribute to simulation and modeling efforts, using tools like STK to analyze aerospace mission scenarios.
- Design and support cloud-based microservice architectures, ensuring secure and scalable deployment of satellite-ground communication systems.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external mission partners on technical trades, interface definitions, and delivery timelines
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
- Active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's in Systems Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field; 8+ years of experience; or Master's degree with 6+ years relevant experience
- Technical Expertise in the following areas:
- Ground system design and mission scheduling
- Satellite communications and ground-to-space link architecture
- Cloud computing platforms and microservice-based architecture design
- Software/system design coordination across ground and space domains
- Familiarity with Java, Python, MATLAB for prototyping, analysis, or modeling
- Hands-on use of STK or similar aerospace simulation tools
