Position Description
Serco North America is seeking a Lead Chief Analyst Trainer (Lead Chief AT) in support of our Joint Staff J7, Joint Training, Deployable Training and Lessons Division (DTLD) team in Suffolk, Virginia.
This position is contingent upon your ability to transfer your United States Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance and your ability to obtain a Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.

Serco North America is seeking a Lead Chief Analyst Trainer (Lead Chief AT) in support of our Joint Staff J7, Joint Training, Deployable Training and Lessons Division (DTLD) team in Suffolk, Virginia.
This position is contingent upon your ability to transfer your United States Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance and your ability to obtain a Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
In this role, you will:
- Assist Combatant Commanders, the Joint Staff, Joint Task Force Commanders, and other Joint Force commanders with readiness and training by providing joint matters education and training focused at the operational and strategic levels of war.
- Participate in joint and multi-national training, exercises, and operational staff assist visits.
- Support Deployable Training Division (DTD) training support to joint headquarters, including individual, staff, and unit collective training, academic seminars, senior leader seminars, and exercises.
- DTLD training is grounded in joint doctrine, but focused primarily on the sharing of joint insights and best practices.
- In partnership with active duty and government civilian Observer Trainers and contract Analyst Trainers, provide over-the-shoulder training with joint commands to enhance readiness.
- Collect and analyze observations used to provide feedback to the commander and staff in the form of functional-level feedback, facilitated after-action reviews, and commander's summary reports.
- Provide executive-level support to National Defense University's Senior Leader Education (SLE) program, which includes Pinnacle as well as the Chairman's Capstone and Keystone programs.
- Participate in product development in support of the Joint Lessons Learned Program through the Joint Lessons Learned Information System or other programs of record.
- Contribute to the continuing development of Joint Doctrine and Joint Knowledge Online courses.
- Publish Insights and Best Practice Focus Papers in functional areas of interest.
- Work closely with the DTLD Government leadership on contract support and to ensure all DTD contractors are meeting DTLD requirements.
- Assist DTLD leaders with process and product standardization, development of Insights and Best Practices, DTLD initiatives, and integration with the Joint Training Enterprise.
- Supervise, schedule, and direct a group of seven Chief ATs in order to ensure high-level, standardized support and continuity to the DTLD.
- Monitor and guide/mentor Functional Analyst Trainers (Ats).
- Train and schedule ATs for specified events.
- Ensure AT efforts are standardized and meet all DTD requirements.
- Provide direct support to the DTT Team Chiefs, Senior Mentors, and Observer/Analyst Trainers in their mission of conducting joint and multi-national training.
- Provide senior military analytical research and Observer/Analyst Trainer mentoring for preparatory and support activities throughout the Joint Event Life Cycle to include planning conferences, academic seminars, event execution, product development, and post-event and organizational analysis.
- In-depth research, analysis, and training to support the Joint Force Commanders' readiness and exercise programs.
- Provide expertise and continuity in training and developing DTLD Observer Trainers and Team Chiefs.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- One of the following:
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 12 years of experience in planning and/or executing military operations
- Master's degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience in planning and/or executing military operations
- Doctorate or PhD with a minimum of 7 years of experience in planning and/or executing military operations
- Ability to support the DTLD as a Chief Analyst Trainer.
- Experience at the strategic and/or operational level in one or more joint matters functional areas.
- Experience with joint deliberate and crisis planning, the commander's decision-making process, and mission command.
- Ability to research and write at a doctoral/publishable level, demonstrated communication skills, and experience in problem analysis and resolution.
- Experience in collecting and presenting lessons learned.
- Ability to support information sharing by prioritizing and organizing documents, briefs, and products.
- Willingness and ability to travel to support world-wide (to include areas considered hazardous duty) training events.
- Joint Forces Staff College or Service equivalent graduate.
- Experience as an Observer Trainer or Analyst Trainer in the DTLD can be counted toward years of experience and other basic qualifications.
- Active U.S. DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
- Ability to work on-site in Suffolk, Virginia.
- Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Additional desired experience and skills:
- Recent experience as a Chief Analyst Trainer, Observer Trainer, or functional Analyst Trainer.
- Master's degree with a minimum of 15 years of experience in planning and/or executing military operations
- Doctoral degree with a minimum of 12 years of experience in planning and/or executing military operations.
- Combatant Command, Joint Task Force, Functional or Service Component, Division, Afloat Staff or Wing, command or staff knowledge and experience.
- In depth joint knowledge and experience at the operational and/or strategic levels of operations in Joint Force command and control procedures and battle staff processes, to include planning, assessments, knowledge management processes, operations center activities, commanders' decision cycle, mission command, and inter-organizational dynamics.
- Experience in preparing and delivering seminars for general/flag officers or civilian equivalents.
