Work Requirements
Be part of the USPS Office of Chief Information Officer (CIO) Architecture, Strategy, & Innovation (CASI) team by contributing as a Cloud Solutions Architect by researching and producing enterprise architectural assessments that will ultimately support all business areas with which USPS CASI interacts. You will provide types of services including: Assessment, Evaluation, Requirements analysis, Architecture, Design, Technical planning, Process management, & Reporting.
HOW A CLOUD SOLUTIONS ARCHITECT WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
- Providing in-depth knowledge in areas of requirements elicitation, stakeholder engagement, application design, programming, testing, documentation, implementation, maintenance, and management.
- Research, analyze, and evaluate existing and proposed business systems and procedures.
- Ensure that requirements are met and deliverable products comply with the CIO architecture and business needs.
- Develop requirements and identify system solutions in detailed measurable terms that achieve optimum performance and cost effectiveness.
- Writing architecture assessment documents.
- Understanding of scripting or coding skills, or tools (e.g., shell, Python, Ruby, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, Chef, or Puppet).
- Creation and submittal of reports, analysis, advice, studies, alternatives, evaluations, models, and/or similar documents
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Required Experience:
- 15+ years of hands-on experience
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field or equivalent experience - not required.
Required skills:
- Strong proficiency in technical illustration using tools such as draw.io, Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint.
- Have practical experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Anthropic, agentic AI approaches.
- Must have current hands-on experience implementing cloud technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization.
- Expert knowledge of cloud services from one or more of the primary Cloud Service Providers (CSPs)(Amazon, Microsoft or Google), and the ability to integrate cloud services with on-premises technologies such as Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, HP, Linux, SAP, etc.
- Exhibit high level of technical competence in using operating environments, tools, and technologies commonly used in best-practice solution architectures.
- Strong communication skills including writing and presentation skills.
- Be able to develop technical briefings and present to leadership.
Location:
- Must be able to work from one of these locations for a hybrid schedule - 4 days in office 1 day remote.
- Washington DC; Eagan, MN; St Louis, MO; Wilkes-Barre, PA; San Mateo, CA; Raleigh or Morrisville, NC
Security Clearance Level:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting
- This position has a U.S. residency requirement. The USPS security clearance process requires the selected candidate to have resided in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the last five years as follows: U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 6 months consecutively in the last 3 years (unless they meet certain exceptions). Non-U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 90 days consecutively in the last 3 years.
