Entry Level Cloud Information Assurance Specialist

This position requires US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD clearance. Candidates who are not eligible for a DoD clearance are not eligible for hire. This is a remote position, however candidates must live within a reasonable driving distance of Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, MA.

Day in the life:

• Regularly monitoring security solutions for unusual activities and potential threats, ensuring systems function correctly. This includes reviewing logs and alerts from cloud security tools
• Assisting in performing vulnerability scans and basic penetration tests on cloud systems to identify weaknesses that could be exploited
• Supporting the response to security breaches or incidents, including initial analysis, containment, and participation in the remediation process
• Helping to update and maintain antivirus software, firewalls, and other security tools to protect cloud systems and data
• Participating in the development and dissemination of information security policies and procedures to employees. Assisting in ensuring compliance with relevant information security standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, NIST, DoD RMF) and internal policies
• Generating reports documenting security incidents, the effectiveness of security measures, and any changes in the threat landscape
• Providing basic technical support related to security provisioning, such as setting up user accounts and managing access controls within cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.)
• Working closely with engineers, program managers, and other cybersecurity stakeholders to integrate security throughout the system development lifecycle (SDLC)
• Supporting ongoing security monitoring and configuration management activities for cloud-based systems

Requirements/Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
• US Citizenship
• Fundamental knowledge of common cyber threats, attack vectors, and security controls
• Exposure to or basic understanding of major cloud providers like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems
• Exposure to security information and event management (SIEM) tools, vulnerability scanners, and other security software
• Basic understanding of user authentication, authorization, and access control within cloud environments
• Ability to analyze security data, identify patterns, and assess risks
• Ability to respond to security alerts and help troubleshoot security issues
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Meticulous attention to detail to detect subtle signs of cyberattacks

Preferred Skills:

• CompTIA Security+ (foundational cybersecurity)
• (ISC)^2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) (specifically designed for entry-level)
• CompTIA Cloud+ (foundational cloud knowledge)
• Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK)

Benefit selection, customer contractual specifications, relevant work experience, skills, competencies, certifications, and clearance status will influence the final salary.
Full benefits: $59,000 to $74,000 annually
Reduced benefits (no medical, dental, vision): Up to $80,000 annually
