Principal Cloud Functional Specialist / Functional Expert

This position requires an Active Secret Clearance. Candidates who do not hold this clearance are not eligible for hire.. This is a remote position, however candidates must live within a reasonable driving distance of Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, MA. This position is contingent on award.

Day in the life:

• Define and articulate the long-term functional strategy for cloud adoption and optimization across the enterprise
• Drive the strategic alignment of business processes with cloud capabilities, identifying opportunities for competitive advantage and market differentiation
• Lead the functional architecture and design of highly complex, enterprise-wide cloud solutions. This includes defining cross-functional processes, data flows, and integration points across diverse cloud services and on-premise systems
• Masterfully elicit, analyze, and translate highly ambiguous, complex, and often conflicting business needs into clear, comprehensive, and actionable functional requirements for cloud solution development. Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and strategic impacts
• Provide expert functional guidance on the selection, optimization, and governance of cloud services across an entire portfolio of applications. Advise on licensing, cost optimization, and resource utilization from a functional perspective
• Lead large-scale business process re-engineering and digital transformation initiatives, leveraging advanced cloud features to create innovative, efficient, and user-centric workflows.
• Drive organizational change management and adoption
• Establish and enforce functional design standards, best practices, and governance frameworks for cloud solutions
• Ensure consistency, scalability, and maintainability across all cloud implementations
• Act as a primary functional point of contact and trusted advisor to executive leadership, business unit heads, and other senior stakeholders
• Influence strategic decisions and build strong, collaborative relationships across the organization
• Provide expert mentorship and coaching to senior functional specialists and business analysts.
• Drive knowledge sharing, develop intellectual capital, and represent the organization as a thought leader in cloud functional design
• Collaborate strategically with cloud vendors and implementation partners, evaluating new technologies and features for their functional relevance and potential impact on the business
• Serve as the ultimate escalation point for highly complex functional issues, conducting deep-dive analyses and developing innovative, sustainable solutions

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree with 10 years of relevant experience, Associate degree with 12 years of relevant experience, or 14 years of relevant experience with no degree
• Active Secret clearance
• US Citizenship
• 10+ years of progressive and dedicated experience in a senior-level functional specialist, functional expert, or business architecture role with a predominant focus on complex cloud transformations and cloud-native application implementations
• Master-level understanding and extensive hands-on experience with core, advanced, and emerging services across at least two major public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). This includes profound knowledge of compute, storage, networking, security, data analytics, AI/ML, serverless, and integration services
• Proven expertise in driving functional solutions across multiple, diverse business domains (e.g., Finance, HR, Supply Chain, CRM, Marketing, Manufacturing, Data & Analytics, IoT)
• Demonstrated mastery in advanced requirements elicitation, analysis, and architectural design for large-scale, complex cloud programs
• Extensive experience in leading and executing large-scale business process re-engineering initiatives, with a track record of driving significant operational efficiencies and business value through cloud integration
• Superior verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate highly complex functional designs, strategic roadmaps, and business impacts to C-suite executives and diverse technical teams
• Proven ability to think strategically, define long-term functional roadmaps, and provide decisive leadership in complex, ambiguous environments
• Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop senior functional talent, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
• Elite-level problem-solving abilities, capable of navigating extreme complexity, anticipating challenges, and devising innovative, sustainable functional solutions

Preferred Skills:

• Certifications (Essential/Highly Preferred): Multiple professional-level cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect). Additional certifications in related enterprise applications or frameworks are a significant plus.

Benefit selection, customer contractual specifications, relevant work experience, skills, competencies, certifications, and clearance status will influence the final salary.
Full benefits: $207,000 to $259,000 annually
Reduced benefits (no medical, dental, vision): Up to $281,000 annually
