Description
SAIC is seeking an Optical Engineer located at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ to support our DEVCOM customer to complete optical engineering tasks associated with military optical drawings to include CAD based evaluation and include CAD modeling and simulation of optical performance.

SAIC is seeking an Optical Engineer located at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ to support our DEVCOM customer to complete optical engineering tasks associated with military optical drawings to include CAD based evaluation and include CAD modeling and simulation of optical performance.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Perform optical engineering tasks associated with military optical drawings to include CAD based evaluation including CAD modeling and simulation of optical performance.
- Participate in planning and tracking activities and interact with IPTs as required.
- Use Zemax Optics Studio to perform analysis, modeling, and simulation of optical systems.
- Utilize software-modeled optical systems in a collaborative environment to increase efficiency and the effectiveness of optical design efforts.
- Responsible for tracking, managing, and organizing technical data packages for various military optical systems.
- Perform optical laboratory analysis and testing of direct view, non-linear, electro-optical, and laser-based systems.
- Complete relevant optical systems safety training to include but not limited to Laser Safety Training, and Training on the Safe Operation of Optical Targeting Systems.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors in Optical Engineering, Physics, or Electrical Engineering and ten (10)+ years of experience.
- Experience using Optical Engineering Computer Aided Design (CAD) software. Specific experience using Zemax Optics Studio is required.
- Experience in development of optical system prescriptions, evaluation of optical components for the human eye, and basic optical metrology.
- Must have at least one (1) year of Optical Engineering experience in a laboratory environment supervised by a senior optical engineer. This experience shall consist of the measurement, verification, and validation of existing optical systems and optical system designs
REQUIRED CLEARANCE:
- Must have an active Secret Clearance.
- Must have current US Citizenship.
