HX5 is currently seeking a Linux System Administrator Functional Lead to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Salary Range: This position is expected to pay $130,000 - $170,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

HX5 is currently seeking a Linux System Administrator Functional Lead to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, troubleshoot, and sustain Linux based physical and virtual machines for the Missile Defense Space Center
- Administer container platforms such as OpenShift, Docker, and Podman as-well-as maintain multiple repositories/
registries - Oversee and perform the hardening of operating systems and STIG compliance
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, DevSecOps, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure system administration and compliance practices are maintained
- Manage/delegate tasking derived from project, sustainment, and break/fix sources
- Manage/mentor a team responsible for ensuring system software installations, maintenance, break/fix activities, and cyber security mitigations are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, and service level
agreements. - Develop and maintain system administration procedures and baseline configuration documentation.
- Focus on creating, upgrading, managing, and sustaining physical and virtual workstations.
Salary Range: This position is expected to pay $130,000 - $170,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
Education and Experience:
Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience:
- Must have 5, or more, years of directly related experience to UNIX and/or Linux systems administration
- Must have, or obtain within 60 days of hire, a computing environment Linux certification
- Must have, or obtain within 60 days of hire, a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g. Security+)
- Must have an active DoD Secret, or higher, Security Clearance
Desired Requirements:
- Must have a Bachelor's, or higher, in an IT or any STEM related field
- Have experience administering a Red Hat Linux environment
Other Position Requirements:
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
- Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain the required level clearance by date of hire.
- Must have a valid Driver's License.
